Sponsors Issues Issues Issues

A Minecraft mod that improves the statistics screen and makes it more useful.

(The thumbnail screenshot features Biomes O' Plenty, Complementary Shaders, and Bare Bones)

Introduction

The vanilla statistics screen is a mess, harder to read and navigate, and lacks features like proper search and filtering functionalities, making it harder to find what you're looking for. The goal of this mod is to make it easier to navigate and find the specific statistics you are looking for, especially when your world has dozens or hundreds of entries to keep track of.

Key features

  • 🔍 Searching, filtering, sorting, and grouping statistics
  • 📊 Item and mob statistics are shown in a nice and clean visual grid
  • 🖥️ Mobs are visually rendered on the screen because it looks nicer und makes finding them faster
  • 📂 Saving and loading statistics files, as well as a tabbed interface for viewing multiple files
  • 🌐 Sharing statistics with your friends and anyone else you'd like
  • ⚙️ Optional /statistics command, for integrating statistics into commands and data-packs

Dependencies

This mod depends on some other mods that first need to be installed before this mod can be installed. Those dependencies are as follows:

  • 🧵 Fabric API - Only if running on Fabric. Not required on NeoForge.
  • 🖥 TCDCommons API - Powers the GUI interface of this mod

[LogichniyPeop](https://github.com/LogichniyPeop) translated this mod to Ukrainian - Thank you so much for your translations. As always, anyone is welcome to contribute translations at any time.
(Incomplete) port to Minecraft 26.3.

  • Note on this beta release:**
In 26.3, Minecraft migrated from [GLFW](https://www.glfw.org/) to [SDL](https://www.libsdl.org/). Consequently, the game's input handling has changed.

As side-effect; while this mod has mostly adapted, I have not managed fully to port it properly in a timely manner (instead opting for a "band aid" solution). Expect text input fields and any typing-related GUI (from my mods) to be buggy. In addition, such GUI (from my mods) can only handle English keyboard layouts for now. Apologies in advance for the inconvenience.
Backported latest mod version to 26.1.
Mitigated **__a__** crash on NeoForge 26.2, at a small visual expense. I believe this crash should not have been there, but then again NeoForge 26.2 is still in beta as of me writing this. Please report any future or remaining crashes you encounter on NeoForge.

  • Technical details:**
This crash was related to MixinHud (present in [TCDCommons API](https://github.com/TheCSDev/tcdcommons)), a mechanism in the mod that'd prevent the [HUD](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Heads-up_display) from rendering while the better "Statistics" screen was open (to avoid HUD obstructing the screen). MixinHud has now been made optional, resolving the crash while at the same time the mechanism no longer working on NeoForge for now. This is a small visual difference and should not affect [UX](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_experience_design) too much.

Reminder than anyone (yes you) is welcome to translate this mod at any time!
  • [Ultra](https://github.com/Ultra0641) added 'German' translations. Thank you so much for translating this mod for everyone!
  • Improved readability for tooltips of config settings found in Statistics > File > Settings

  • Fixed a typo in English translation text that was supposed to say "Hide completed goals". Thank you [Xinyang-Gao](https://github.com/Xinyang-Gao) for spotting and reporting the typo.

Added Russian translations by [ADevnin](https://github.com/ADevnin) - Thank you for translating this mod.
  • Added utility "Create goal" to RMB context menus of stats.
  • Added utility dropdown for selecting "Stat type (Activity)" in goal edit screen.

  • Note:** These serve as utilities for creating goals easier. "Goals" feature is still experimental and thus must be enabled in mod settings to use it.

Port to 26.2.
Added "Goals", a client-sided feature that allows people to define custom milestones that track their progress toward specific statistical targets. Still in an experimental phase. Example of a goal; "Mine 64 Stone".

The feature is unfinished and thus not exposed unless explicitly enabled in this mod's "Settings". When or if this feature will ever be complete, is unclear at this time, though feedback is welcome!
Remember when I said I am moving on from NeoForge yesterday? Well scrap that, this release can handle both platforms simultaneously.

Just don't forget to install 'Fabric API' on Fabric, although you probably already know that. On NeoForge no dependencies are required.
(Reupload due to a minor publishing mistake)

## Changelog

  • Migrated from **Architectury** to **Fabric**
  • Ported to Minecraft 26.1

## Explanation and reasoning

This mod is now back to being exclusive to **Fabric**. This fate is uncertain but is likely to stay. There are two main reasons for this:

1. NeoForge has far less demand than Fabric. Look at the file download counts for any mod out there (mine included), and you will see ratios as big as 500:1 (aka Fabric getting as much as 500x more downloads). Personally, this isn't the main issue in my opinion - I wouldn't mind continuing to maintain NeoForge for the few people if it wasn't for the next reason.
2. Update delays and additional maintenance, all for a low-demand plarform. This is the main reason and issue I have. Whenever a new version of Minecraft releases - Fabric catches up within hours, meanwhile I am stuck for days to weeks waiting on Architectury and NeoForge to port over - just so I can then proceed to port my mods. No more NeoForge = no more having to deal with that. If NeoForge had a lot more demand, then this would in my opinion be a valid trade-off. For now, it is not.

Please note that I may change my mind. I already wish I didn't have to leave NeoForge behind. We will see what happens in the future. Please refer to **Forgified Fabric API** and **Sinytra Connector**, as they may help you run Fabric mods on NeoForge anyway.
This mod no longer depends on **Architectury API**.
This mod no longer depends on **Architectury API**.
Full release of v5.0 is finally here, with an overhauled GUI and richer visuals with icons and entity rendering. This update features a more robust framework, as well as news features like "tabbed document interface" and "saving / opening JSON statistics files".

  • (Note that due to a tight deadline of March 24, 2026, I was unable to reimplement 'quick share' and 'hud stats' in time. When or if they will make a comeback is uncertain for now, as there are many other things demanding my attention.)*

### **Changelog (from v5.0-alpha.1 'till now)**
  • Overhauled framework that fixes what past game updates broke
  • Overhauled user interface (GUI)
  • Added "Blocks" section for displaying block-exclusive statistics. Turns out this feature was missing for years
  • Added "tabbed document interface" (for having multiple "tabs" opened)
  • Added "Home" tab. Features "quick access", your statistics that have highest values, "news", and "credits"
  • Added statistics JSON file saving and opening. Feel free to share such files with your friends and show off your progress!
  • Added fancy icons to dropdowns. Adds more personality to the GUI
  • ReAdded GUI rendering of mob stat entities (mobs are now visually displayed)
  • Added resource pack customization capabilities
  • Added /give @s to the context-menu for items and blocks (requires access to /give)

### **Legal notice**
The license for v5.X versions is All rights reserved for now, however it **also grants modpack developers** the right to feature v5.X versions in modpacks that are hosted **on CurseForge and Modrinth**. Please [read the full license file](https://github.com/TheCSDev/betterstats/blob/00fe20a3e0b86997352a742d53193e749e8b97a5/LICENSE.md) for more info.

The primary reason for this is that I could not find a license for v5.X that I felt truly comfortable with, even though the initial idea was to assign a proper license once the full v5.0 release was out. It is possible that someday I may switch back to a F.O.S.S. license if I ever do find one I am comfortable with.

  • Regarding modpacks;** Feel free to feature my mods in modpacks on CurseForge and Modrinth. Despite the license, I intentionally worded it to permit modpack usage.

Fixed [Issue #15](https://github.com/TheCSDev/betterstats/issues/15), but not in the way one may initially expect. Thank you [DeathdealerYT](https://github.com/DeathdealerYT) for reporting the issue. [Issue #11](https://github.com/TheCSDev/betterstats/issues/11) is semi-related.

The core root of these issues comes down to how the game handles statistics internally **vs** what is shown on screen.
  • For user convenience, both the vanilla statistics screen and the better statistics would display both item and block statistics into one big merged interface featuring both.
  • Fundamentally speaking, the game does not work like that internally. Blocks are clearly **NOT** items, and vice-versa. Same applies to statistics about them. Visually they may seem interchangeable, but they are **NOT**.

Therefore, merging these into one interface (like how the vanilla statistics screen does) leads to janky code that tries to treat both **as if they are the same thing** when they *clearly* **are not**. In other words, the programming code gets messy.

To resolve this issue - I have decided to step away from presenting both as one (like how the vanilla game does), instead presenting them as they truly are in the game's code - by splitting them into two separate views; "Items" and "Blocks". This provides a more accurate view into what statistics data really looks like, but it also means that you will now no longer see block-related statistics among items and vice-versa. This also automatically resolves [Issue #11](https://github.com/TheCSDev/betterstats/issues/11) and [Issue #15](https://github.com/TheCSDev/betterstats/issues/15) on the spot.

### [Edit] Forgot to mention
Added /give @s to right-click context menus. Convenience feature for quickly giving yourself an item/block you might want. Requires access to /give for this option to show up.

In the meantime, foundation for the "Quick share" feature is currently being built. Once done, "Quick share" will be able to be reimplemented. Plus some new features are planned as well but nothing concrete yet.

This is a minor update that has one primary goal in mind - notify as many people about Hytale arbitration as possible. It has no other functional purpose, so it is not necessary to update to this version.

While this may possibly be bothersome for some, please note that this PSA is of much greater urgency. Getting a lot of people to opt-out of arbitration within a limited time window for an upcoming hyped-up game far outweighs any mild one-time annoyance it may cause for others. However a new config setting was added to give you control over this behavior.

## Changelog
  • Added client-sided one-time PSA chat message about Hytale. It only shows up once, and completely stops showing starting from February 2026.
  • Added config setting client-allowChatPsaMessages

### For modpack developers
The new client-allowChatPsaMessages config setting is there for you in the event you do not wish to allow this mod to display any PSA messages in chat.
To configure it, go to Pause screen > Statistics > File > Settings > Allow chat PSA messages (tick or untick that checkbox).

## API changelog
More restructuring surrounding regarding "mcbs" stuff - this time regarding IO APIs.

## Missing features
The two missing features are still missing. To reimplement statistics sharing, I need to re-implement the networking code. This work is currently being done in TCDCommons API. It's a slow work in progress.
