This mod is designed to optimize the gameplay experience of Turtle Scute in Minecraft. In the vanilla game, obtaining Turtle Scute is quite tedious: it only drops when turtles grow, with each turtle dropping just one scute, resulting in extremely low efficiency. Additionally, its use is limited to crafting turtle shells, making the overall reward disproportionate to the effort.
Feel free to use this mod in your modpack!
To address this, the mod introduces two small improvements:
Enhanced Acquisition Method: Drawing inspiration from the way armadillo scutes are obtained, a more convenient approach is added. Right-clicking an adult turtle with a vanilla Brush will consume 32 durability from the brush and 2 hunger points from the player, yielding 2 Turtle Scutes directly.
- It is compatible with brushes added by the mods Better Archeology and More Brushes.
New Equipment: The "Turtle Back Shell" is added, which can be equipped in the chestplate slot. Crafted from Turtle Scutes, it has the same durability and armor value as an iron chestplate, plus an additional 20% knockback resistance. Its special effects include: automatically granting "Dolphin's Grace" when entering water to significantly boost swimming speed; if the wearer takes more than 4 damage in a single hit, it immediately triggers "Resistance IV" for 12 seconds (reducing 80% of damage), consuming 10 durability in the process. This effect can be triggered again after 120 seconds.
Starting from Version 1.3 and above: When this effect is triggered, it also grants an 8-point shield for 12 seconds and the "Bad Luck" effect for a certain period of time.

- The mod includes a built-in tool called the Flint Turtle Brush, which has a durability of 32 points. It provides support for the "brush gameplay" for players using MC versions prior to 1.20.

- Marked as compatible with 26.2.
- Removed "Flint turtle brush".
- Added Netherite Back Shell, which can be obtained by upgrading a Turtle Back Shell with a Netherite Ingot at a Smithing Table; this back shell has the same armor value and armor toughness as Netherite armor, and also has fire resistance.
- Added exclusive functions for Turtle Back Shell and Netherite Back Shell: when the wearer is sneaking, they are immune to attacks from arrows, shulker bullets, and fire charges; each time this blocking effect is triggered, 1 point of the back shell's durability is consumed.
# Changes
- Removed the effect that triggers Resistance when the Turtle Back Shell takes damage.
- Reduced the durability consumption of the Brush when scraping Turtle Scutes; the durability consumed per operation is adjusted to 14 points.
- Issue**: The passive effect of the Turtle Back Shell would not trigger again after the first activation, even when the cooldown period had expired.
- Affected Version:** Fabric 1.21.8
- Resolution:** Fixed the logic issue causing the passive effect to fail retriggering post-cooldown; the effect now activates normally according to the set cooldown rules.
- Buff Addition:** After the passive effect of the Turtle Back Shell is triggered, the player will now gain an additional 4 temporary hearts (as Damage Absorption).
- Balance Adjustment:** For balance purposes, the player will also receive a 120-second Unlucky effect simultaneously when the above passive effect is activated.
- Resolved the problem where the attack value of the Flint Turtle Brush was incorrectly set to 4. The attack value has now been adjusted to its intended default.
- Corrected the unintended efficiency bonus issue associated with the Flint Turtle Brush. The item will no longer have extra efficiency that deviated from the mod's design.
Resolved a critical game crash that occurred when players used a Brush item to interact with Turtle Scutes.
- Affected Minecraft Versions: 1.19.4, 1.19.2, 1.18.2, 1.17.1, 1.16.5**
- Tag Implementation: Added a new tag **qa_turtle_back_shell:brush** , which is used to mark tools capable of brushing turtle scutes. By default, this tag includes all items labeled with the **c:tools/brush** tag. This update ensures compatibility with brushes added by the "Better Archeology" and "More Brushes" mods.
- New Tool - Flint Turtle Brush: Introduced a new tool named "Flint turtle brush" with a durability of 32. This tool can also be used to brush turtle scutes. The addition of this item is specifically designed to support versions of Minecraft before the vanilla brush was officially added , expanding the mod's compatibility with older game versions.
