Brisa Lite is a lightweight Minecraft shader pack that brings natural lighting and atmosphere to your world while preserving its familiar blocky style.
- Soft directional shadows for blocks, objects, mobs and players.
- Gentle water waves, sky reflections and sunlight highlights.
- Waving leaves and plants.
- Sun rays filtering through visible foliage.
- Atmospheric skies and subtle nighttime fog.
- Dynamic lighting for held items and warmer lighting from placed light sources.
- Natural colors, adjustable anti-aliasing and optional motion blur.
- Customizable quality presets, including a lighter FPS preset.
Compatibility: Developed for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 with Iris.
Installation: Place the shader ZIP in your .minecraft/shaderpacks folder, select Brisa Lite in Iris and apply. Keep the ZIP compressed.
Performance: Designed with modest hardware in mind. Frame rates depend on your hardware, resolution, render distance, enabled effects and the complexity of your world.
All Versions
+ Add Version- Added **depth-based water color and transparency**, with clearer shallows and darker deep water while preserving biome colors.
- Added **animated foam for currents and waterfalls**, separate from the existing shoreline foam.
- Added independent toggles and strength controls for both effects under **Water settings**. Ultra Lite keeps them disabled by default.
- Disabled **water refraction by default** in every preset. It can still be enabled manually.
- Removed **heat distortion** around lava and fire to reduce GPU overhead.
- Added richer **sunrise and sunset colors**, including orange and pink horizons, violet skies, and warmer clouds.
- Optimized block lighting, held-item lighting, material calculations, and stationary-camera motion blur.
- Preserved caustics, reflections, rain effects, shadows, bloom, and vegetation movement.
- Rechecked shader compilation across **31 supported Minecraft versions**, with in-game verification on **Minecraft 26.3 using Iris**.
The new water effects use the existing water rendering pass. Performance varies depending on hardware, settings, and scene.
- Expanded verified Minecraft coverage to all stable releases in the 1.20 and 1.21 series, plus 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3.
- Added compatibility checks for Minecraft 1.16.5, 1.18.2 and the full 1.19 series through 1.19.4.
- Added version-aware copper torch and copper lantern mappings for Minecraft 1.21.9 and later.
- Fixed incorrect dark shadow bands on older Iris builds by using manual depth comparisons with the existing sampling count. Modern Iris keeps its original shadow path.
- Preserved the effects, visibility improvements, controls and performance presets from Brisa Lite 2.0.
- Included a detailed compatibility manifest with the Iris builds checked and the verification level for each Minecraft version.
All 31 listed versions passed official Iris compiler/transformer and native GPU
checks. Actual game sessions also passed on 1.20.1, 1.21.11 and all five listed
26.x releases. These tests used OpenGL; Vulkan and OptiFine were not verified.
Use Iris and Sodium builds that support your exact Minecraft version.
- Added water refraction that follows the waves, with guards for shorelines and foreground objects.
- Added distinct highlights for vanilla metals, polished stone, glass and ice.
- Added animated rain rings inside exposed ground puddles.
- Added view-dependent snow sparkle with distance filtering.
- Added localized heat distortion around nearby visible lava, fire and lit campfires.
- Added individual controls for every new effect, in English and Portuguese.
- Kept refraction and heat distortion disabled in the lighter performance presets.
- Improved effect visibility: stronger water refraction, preserved highlight contrast on bright materials, clearer puddle rings, larger snow glints and a taller heat plume.
Material highlights use the existing textures. Refraction and heat are screen-space
approximations and share one optional rendering pass. This revision keeps the same
2.0 version and adjusts the appearance of its effects.
- Fixed stretched caustic patterns on submerged walls and riverbanks when viewed from above.
- Reduced excessive caustic brightness above the water surface.
- Improved fading with water depth, distance and viewing angle for a more natural appearance.
- Preserved the underwater caustic appearance.
This fix adds no extra rendering passes or texture lookups.
- Rebuilt shallow-water caustics as clearly defined, animated light networks on underwater bottoms, visible from above and while submerged.
- Added irregular rain puddles to break up uniform wet-ground reflections.
- Added weather-responsive waves: calmer water in clear weather and stronger motion during rain.
- Added soft moon reflections on water, following the lunar phase and fading in rain.
- Added moving cloud shadows on outdoor terrain.
- Added selective material glow for flames, lava and amethyst, including regular and soul torches held in either hand. Torch handles and neutral bucket metal retain normal shading.
- Rechecked the 1.8 features: star twinkling, shooting stars, rainbows, moon-phase lighting, brightness adaptation, dawn mist and wet-ground reflections.
- Added individual controls and reduced settings for lightweight presets.
Reflections approximate the sky and clouds. Caustics and puddles are lightweight visual approximations. Material glow uses the original texture colors; the existing Bloom setting controls its surrounding halo.
- Added animated caustic light patterns on shallow underwater surfaces.
- Added soft star twinkling and rare shooting stars on clear nights.
- Added a subtle rainbow opposite the sun as rain clears.
- Added moon-phase lighting: brighter full-moon nights and darker new-moon nights, while keeping block and handheld lights independent.
- Added gradual brightness adaptation when moving between caves and open areas.
- Added a thin layer of morning mist in low outdoor areas, fading as the sun rises.
- Fixed rain-wet ground reflections. Exposed upward surfaces now receive a more visible, coherent sky/cloud reflection, respond promptly to rain and dry gradually.
- Added individual controls for every new effect, with reduced settings in the More FPS and Ultra Light presets.
The new effects reuse the existing rendering passes, textures and buffers. Ground and water reflections approximate the sky and clouds; they do not mirror buildings, trees or entities.
- Redesigned sun: a nearly white center, a broad warm glow, and softly illuminated clouds.
- Improved sunlight: clearer highlights on surfaces and soft light passing through leaves.
- Golden hour: warm haze at sunrise and sunset.
- Wet ground: a subtle sheen during rain, with gradual drying.
- Shoreline foam: a soft animated effect in shallow water.
- Water reflections: sky and cloud reflections, with adjustable quality and Light mode enabled by default.
- Night auroras: green and violet lights on clear nights, appearing every seven nights by default.
- God rays removed: replaced with soft sky brightness and a broad solar glow.
- New controls: adjustable intensity and individual toggles for the effects.
- Performance improvements: new effects use existing rendering passes, with a focus on keeping performance costs low.
