BuildCraft Redux
Pipes, engines, oil, quarries, builders, logic gates and robots, brought from BuildCraft 8.0.0 (1.12.2) and BuildCraft 7.1.27 (1.7.10) and united in one mod for NeoForge.
In addition to porting all of the original recipes, original textures, and original mechanics, systems have been improved (oil spawns, blueprints) and finished (help system, guide book). Systems and mechanics left behind on 1.7.10 Minecraft that were dropped for 1.12.2 have been brought back wholesale, such as robots.

BuildCraft's systems
Logistics and resource transportation
Item, fluid and energy pipes, starting with cobblestone, then specialty pipes, and make things compact with diamond pipes and logic gates. Plug or paint them for separation, cover them with facades of any block to hide/organize, and wire them up with gates to replace redstone logic.
Energy infrastructure
Redstone, Stirling and Combustion engines power factories with BuildCraft's Minecraft Joules (MJ). Find infinite oil springs in deserts and oceans, pump it, refine it in the Distiller and Heat Exchanger, and burn the fuel. If you prefer utilizing universal Forge Energy, build FE Engines to use FE for BuildCraft machines, convert MJ to FE with the Dynamo, or enable automatic conversion in the mod settings.
Massive mines and building machines

Quarries carve out chunks of land down to the bedrock layer. Mark out a volume and let the Filler flatten, fill or shape it. Scan a building with the Architect Table and the Builder rebuilds it anywhere, block for block, down to every bit of data, including block inventories, states, and fluids.
Logic system for advanced players

Logic Gates augment your existing pipes. When utilized correctly, you can make your factories smaller, more efficient, and unlock capabilities that you otherwise wouldn't have, such as robot control. Speaking of which...
Robots are back!

The robotics system that was left on 1.7.10 (a very long time ago) is back on all downloadable versions of the mod. You can again program robot boards, dock robots at stations on your pipes, and send them to farm, harvest, haul items and fluids, or fight, entirely controlled by logic gates.
New stuff
On top of existing systems, the following has been reworked or is completely new to the mod:
Redux changes
- Overworld oil spawns: Infinite oil has been changed to not be their own biome, instead biomes tagged as "rich" (by default arid and deep ocean) now get distinctly wider and taller oil spouts.
- Nether Oil: Spouts of searing oil rarely present in the Nether. This should allow for Nether start challenge runs.
- Wrench overhaul: It's an actual tool now (in Minecraft terms), and now has a 3-tier progression path to expand capabilities (evolves the "Marker Connector" tool).
- Enchantable machines: You can now enchant the Miner and Quarry with applicable pickaxe enchants. This can be disabled/nullified in the config.
- Machine augmentation: You can place a Pump on top of a Miner or Quarry and have it drain fluids.
- Engines can now take heated fuels. These can either be beneficial or detrimental.
- The GUI "help" system (the purple "?" tab) is now implemented on all applicable screens.
- In-game Guide Book has been expanded and slightly re-worked. The GitHub Wiki is a mirror of these pages.
- Audio and visual effects (pipes utilize distinct sounds, searing fluids are steamy).
- Machines and pipes can be built in water without causing too many problems.
- Improved interaction with pipe addons like wires, plugs, and gates.
- The Filler block can now show an in-world preview of what it will fill. This used to be a creative-only feature.
- Builders show where they're stuck in the world, and have vastly improved handling of fluids.
- Machines that would otherwise destroy/void blocks now either collect them or eject them.
- Additional status indicators on blocks.
- Minor crafting recipe adjustments to items such as blueprints or blocks such as the builder and integration table.
- An absolute swath of things I considered bugs on 1.12.2 that are now fixed or improved.
Built for today's servers
- Respects land claims. A large amount of effort went into making sure all automations respect mods and server plugins that claim land for multiplayer worlds. Blocks, pipes and robots without permissions cannot make changes to claimed land, even when using entities like TNT.
- Performance. Long pipe networks, idle machines, and pumps over huge lakes were tested on modern MC to make sure they do not introduce performance issues.
- Recipe viewers. Native support for JEI and REI.
- In-game Guide Book covering every block, item and gate, with robot tutorials. Also compatible with AE2's GuideME.
- Configurable. MJ or RF/FE readouts, choose between 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 laser behavior, disable RF pipes or facades entirely for modpacks, or turn off new features.
- Languages: English and Simplified Chinese (with the help of a contributor).
Q&A
Is this a continuation of BuildCraft? I don't consider it one, this is a mod based off of BuildCraft 8.0.x and 7.1.x. It is not an official continuation, the original name for this mod was "BuildCraft UNOFFICIAL" in an attempt to make that clear. New features, tweaks, QoL improvements, and the entire porting process was managed by legoj15, and helped by people who submitted feature requests and bug reports
Is this also BuildCraft Community Edition? No. That is a separate project by a different team.
Can I use it in my modpack? Yes, absolutely, I did this for my own modpack.
Compatibility? I have been making an effort to support other mods naturally. If you come across a compatibility quirk, or have a request for better compatibility, please create a GitHub issue.
Will updating from BuildCraft Unofficial break my world?
No, only the name changed. Blocks & items in world data, blueprints and config settings carry over. If you download mods
manually, look for and remove the old BCunofficial-…jar first. For users on really old BuildCraft Unofficial versions (the ones with the 8.0.0 names), systems are in place to attempt to upgrade your worlds gracefully.

- Completely redesigned the Heat Exchanger model.** It now is much more readable with color coded inputs and outputs. Heat Exchanger now requires 1 copper ingot and 1 less glass when crafting.
- Revived cut content: The Robot Goggles.** These were a helmet-slot piece of equipment that let you see robots through walls, but never had a model or texture before now. These can count as curios/accessories for those who care.
- New icons for the filler's parameters and settings.** Also fixed the pentagon shape, some axis alignment issues, and re-added the flatten pattern from 1.7.10.
- New rare world gen: Abandoned Quarries.** If you explore a lot, you may now come across pits with damaged quarry frames around them. These can be disabled in the mod config. Read the wiki page for how they work.
- You can now see how far away you are from a marker after right-clicking on it with a Marker Wrench or Volume Wrench.
- Additionally, aiming at a potential marker connection will tell you the true length of the beam.
- Reduced mod size by deleting unused assets and optimizing all textures.
- Redesigned the Volume Wrench sprite because it looked too much like a short staff.
- Buffed wrench attach speed (lol) and increased the amount of damage the Volume Wrench deals.
- Fixed an oversight where the Marker Wrench could edit/create volumes.
- Added the resizing while in use feature to the creative mode Volume Box as well.
- Fixed an edge case where blocks that show dynamic fluid levels (such as Distillers and Heat Exchangers) would have the visual component of their fluids disappear completely when nearing empty.
- Lava can now light fuels and refined oils on fire. Naturally spawning oil is unaffected. This can be disabled.
- Fixed a rare crash when loading chunks that had certain pipe pluggables installed.
- Pipes and their pluggables now reload their textures when a resource pack is added, changed, or reloaded (such as color blind mode or high-contrast).
- Fixed a long standing bug that allowed engines to pass redstone through them. This was discovered when engines with levers on them turned off pumps and quarries, now that they can be instantly turned off with redstone as well.
- Gates now see cauldrons and composters, so inventory logic for those two blocks can now be used.
- New config option "Enable Detonation of Contained Fluids" (off by default). You can turn fluid tanks and pipe networks of gaseous fuels into a server owner's worst nightmare.
- Completely redesigned the Heat Exchanger model.** It now is much more readable with color coded inputs and outputs. Heat Exchanger now requires 1 copper ingot and 1 less glass when crafting.

BCunofficialjar when adding the newBuildCraftReduxjar. - You can now utilize heated combustible fluids in the combustion engine. These can either improve efficiency or be detrimental.
- Searing oil now spawns in the Nether to allow for Nether starts. Existing config files still exclude the Nether: remove it from
excludedDimensionsto turn it on. - Combustible fluids can now burn again. Gaseous fuels will literally explode in the correct conditions.
- You can now augment a Quarry or Mining Well with a Pump placed on top to drain fluids.
- Redstone now *actually* pauses machines like the Mining Well, Pump, and Quarry. The Guide Book pages were literally lying before this.
- Lasers can now fire underwater, and will emit bubbles when doing so.
- A plethora of machines can now be waterlogged so that they don't look weird when underwater.
- Pipe sounds have been adjusted so that they are not all the same sound.
- The wrench is now a more conventional tool in the Minecraft sense (attack damage, damage values, enchantable). BuildCraft wrenches can mine BuildCraft machines faster.
- Turned the Marker Connector into the Marker Wrench, giving it wrenching abilities, and added a new "Volume Wrench" item that allows editing volumes after their creation, in addition to connecting markers. In other words, there is now a 3-tier wrench system.
- Looking at a marker laser shows its length in blocks under the crosshair, including the faint preview lines while holding a Marker Wrench.
- Utilizing the new Volume Wrench, you can now change the size of a machine's working volume.
- Replaced the weird "Filler Planner" volume box addon thing with a toggleable planning mode in the Filler's GUI. Filler Planners left in inventories disappear; Fillers that used one keep its box and pattern.
- Modifying the state of a Filler with the preview/planning mode enabled now has minimal delay in multiplayer.
- The Zone Planner now can show chunks that were previously loaded but are out of range. This was a 1.7.10 feature that was missed.
- "Solid" facades now blend their shading together to make them look more like regular blocks when there are multiple next to each other.
- Quarries and Mining Wells can now be enchanted at an anvil. This can be disabled/disallowed in the mod configuration.
- Copied the Guide Book pages into a "GuideME" compatible format. AE2 players can now just have 1 guide book for both mods.
- Fluid pipes now interact with cauldrons.
- Item pipes now interact with composters.
- If you leave the "to" slot in a Replacer empty, it will find and remove all matching blocks instead of replacing.

- Searing oil now spawns in the Nether to allow for Nether starts. Existing config files still exclude the Nether: remove it from

- Fixed "Improved Transparency" causing crashes.
- Added Minecraft 26.3 support. Minimum required NeoForge version is 26.3.0.38.
- Robots are now interpolated like everything else (i.e. they move smoothly).
- Robots and blocks that can modify the world now call the exact same functions players do, which allows land claiming/property protection server plugins/mods to stay enforced.
- Stripes pipes and robots now use fluid containers and thrown items on the block in front (1.7.10 feature).
- Stripes pipes and robots also now keep the fluid container after using up contents.
- Stripes pipes now extend their line when fed item pipes, and break minecarts in front of them (1.7.10 feature).
- Builders and Fillers no longer get stuck next to fluids they can't remove, and builds with fluid blocks where there is empty space now complete successfully. In keep-fluid (No-Replace) mode the Builder now waits for nearby moving water before placing torches, snow and other fragile blocks, and places blocks the blueprint wants waterlogged into water of their own kind instead of skipping them. A block that fails to place, from the Builder or a single schematic, no longer deletes the water or lava source, grass, seagrass, snow or flowing water it was placed into. The Builder now breaks a waterlogged block in Replace mode, or a block placed in a spot it was about to fill, like any other wrong block (keeping its drop and contents) instead of building over it; in No-Replace mode it no longer builds over water or lava that flowed in while the block was on its way, and a door, bed or tall plant with either half in water, or a torch or other block standing on a spot it skips for water, is left out instead of keeping the build from ever finishing; it also no longer overwrites a block just outside its area to fit the other half of one the blueprint's edge cut through. Items the Builder or Filler takes back from a cancelled placement are dropped on top of it when its inventory has filled up, instead of disappearing.
- Quarries now repair a frame gap once whatever blocked it is gone (such as a protected area becoming unclaimed).
- Mining Wells and Pumps no longer delete waterlogged blocks.
- Idle Pumps over huge pools and the Zone Planner map aren't performance hogs any more.
- Improved the performance of Robot pathfinding and pipe wires.
- Pipe wires now show their state to players who walk into range or rejoin without a large chunk reload.
- The Flood Gate now fills from a bounded search around itself instead of scanning an entire lake.
- Pumps and robots no longer load or generate chunks while searching, pathing, or draining.
- Machines keep or drop their contents correctly when blown up or replaced by commands.
- Stacks above 99 (from mods that raise stack limits) are no longer lost when saved in pipes, Assembly Tables, Builders, item lists or robot requests.
