Creature Corner is a small mod centered on pigeons, with wildlife from around the world and a few animals I just enjoy. More animals, plants and items are on the way!
Creatures
- Pigeons: birds that live in lofts and perch on iron golems. Breed with seeds.
- Endoves: pigeons from the End. Breed with seeds.
- Coyotes: wild canids with a big appetite. Breed with raw chicken.
- Crested caracaras: falcons that hunt small prey. Breed with raw rabbit.
- Toucans: curious birds that sleep in hollow logs. Breed with fruit.
- Butterflies & choirflies: 16 butterfly species, plus glowing-eyed choirflies in the End. Breed with flowers (chorus flowers for choirflies) to get caterpillars.
- Beefles: rare giant beetles asleep under moss. Brush one clean to tame it, then saddle up and fly.
- Toads: Massive amphibians with an equally massive appetite who hate to be disturbed from their slumber
- Characara: Hellish relatives of the overworlds cararcara who prey on the weak
- Owls: Hooting and Screeching birds of prey who ward away flying foes.
Also in the mod
- The Floral Isle: a rare tropical island with purple jacaranda trees.
- Jacaranda wood, hollow logs, nests and pigeon lofts.
- A bug net for catching butterflies, bees, spiders and more.
- Butterfly wing pastes that work as dye and slime, for colorful slime blocks and pistons.
- A music disc: Gallian Grotto by ChipsDahCat.

+ Add Version## New
- Owls**: great horned and barn owls nest in hollow logs, two to a hollow. They rest inside now and then, and find a new hollow if theirs breaks, like bees.
- They stay within 10-15 blocks of home by day and roam 20-30 blocks at night, diving on rabbits, chickens, pigeons, doves and endoves.
- No phantoms spawn within 32 blocks of an owl or its hollow at night, even if you haven't slept.
- Great horned owls hoot real recorded calls, pairs duet at their hollow, and they snap their beaks when startled. Barn owls screech and hiss. Both fly silently.
- Their eyes glow in the dark, even peering out of their hollow.
- Where owls live**:
- Great horned: most forests and taigas (not snowy ones).
- Barn: dappled forests, some taigas (about 3 in 10 owls there), plains and wooded badlands wherever an oak has a hollow, and rarely snowy taigas.
- Hollow logs** now generate in the wild, sometimes with owls inside: now and then in forests, taigas and dappled forest poplars, often in lone plains oaks, and rarely in wooded badlands oaks.
- Hollow Poplar Log** (26.3, or with Vanilla Backport): poplar trunks get hollows too.
- Characaras**: fiery Nether caracaras in basalt, soul and warped colors, each from its own biome. They soar trailing embers, dive-bomb players who are burning or under a harmful effect, and strike back when hit.
- They have hellish calls of their own. Water hurts them, they can't be leashed, and they vanish in Peaceful like monsters.
- Ember Feather**: a semi-rare characara drop. An iron ingot, a blaze rod and an ember feather make 8 **Blazing Bolts**: double arrow damage, they set what they hit on fire, and they glow and burn like flame arrows.
- Toads**: they croak, nap buried, lash out with their tongue (raise a shield) and belly flop.
- Hungry ones reel in prey and swallow it whole: livestock, villagers, zombies, spiders, bees, butterflies, silverfish, endermites, pigeons, doves, toucans, caracaras, characaras, endoves and coyotes. Tamed pets are safe.
- Warm toads live at most desert and badlands hot springs and cold toads at snowy ones. Regular toads sleep on the podzol of old growth taigas, and sulfur toads sit by the pools in sulfur caves (26.3, or with Vanilla Backport), shrugging off geysers and gas.
- Name a toad "Pac-Man" and see what happens.
- Toad Sack**: toads sometimes drop one. Squeeze it to shoot 6 blocks up, then belly flop on landing to hurt mobs nearby, with no fall damage. 10 second cooldown.
- Hot springs**: steaming teal pools in deserts and badlands, and rocky ones on snowy slopes that never freeze.
- Baneberries** grow in dark forests. **Pale baneberries** grow in pale gardens (26.3, or with Vanilla Backport), open at night like eyeblossoms, glow and blink.
- Pick them for berries and the bush grows back like sweet berries. Plant the berries for new bushes. Eating them makes you queasy, and pale ones blind you too.

## New
- Pigeons perch on iron golems**: up to three at a time, one on each shoulder and one on its head. They ride along while the golem goes about its day, then hop off after a while.
- They still scatter if you walk right up or sprint nearby, unless you're holding seeds or sneaking.
- Golems, villagers and the golem's own fights don't scare them. Predators like foxes, wolves and caracaras still do.
- They hop off if the golem wades into deep water or walks under a low ceiling, and head home to their loft at night or in the rain.
- Creative tab**: the Creature Corner tab icon now cycles through the spawn eggs and netted bugs.
## Changes
- Butterflies**: about half as many. Flower forests, meadows, sunflower plains, cherry groves and the Floral Isle now have up to 5 around you instead of 10, and other biomes 1-2 instead of 2-3.
- Jacaranda blossoms** fall less often. The Floral Isle now drops about as many as a cherry grove instead of twice as many, which should also help with lag there.
## Fixes
- Pigeons** no longer fear cats. Village cats kept scaring flocks out of villages, and the villages kept spawning new pigeons to replace them.
- Beefle**: riding into deep water now throws you off instead of letting you fly underwater, so the beefle floats back up instead of drowning. Wading through shallow water still works.
