Cryofloric Arts
Inspired by the "Younger Dryas event," this mod introduces a series of new mechanics, creatures, blocks, effects, and items.
New Blocks and Items
The mod adds a flower that can rarely be found in cold regions: the Icepetal Dryadbloom. It can spread similarly to mushrooms. When brewed into suspicious stew, it grants the Frosted effect. In dark environments (light level less than 1), it transforms into a Snowfall Taro Plant. This plant grows like a crop but can only reach the third growth stage in low-light conditions (below light level 12). Full growth requires brighter light. Snowfall Taro has high saturation. When baked in a furnace, it becomes Rooted Snowfall Taro, which offers higher hunger restoration but lower saturation. Consuming it also grants the Frost Powder effect.
When Icepetal Dryadbloom is near water, it may grow aquatically as Aquatic Frigid Grass. This variant slows and freezes entities like powder snow and applies a brief Frost Powder effect.
The Frost Dust Detector can be crafted using four snowballs and one Icepetal Dryadbloom arranged like a compass. It detects the current chunk's Frost Dust level through texture changes.
The Snow Accumulation Detector is crafted with:
· Iron Ingot, [empty], Iron Ingot · Snowball, Compass, Snowball · Iron Ingot, Frost Dust Detector, Iron Ingot
It directly displays the current Frost Dust value in the chunk. Values above 10,000 cannot be displayed.
The Frostfall Trident functions similarly to a trident but leaves behind a cloud that applies Frosted and Frost Dust effects when thrown. Its attacks also inflict these effects on mobs.
The Bloated Snowfall Tuber emits very bright light and infects nearby blocks and entities. Infected blocks turn into powder snow, and affected entities gain the Frost Powder effect.
New Effects
· Frosted: Periodically deals freezing damage based on the effect's level. · Frost Powder: Causes an Icepetal Dryadbloom to spawn where an entity dies (or is killed). It also increases the effect level, duration, and Frost Dust value. At level 4 or higher, it applies the Over-Rooting effect (max level 10). · Over-Rooting: Prevents affected entities from attacking each other. Periodically restores health equal to level × 5, extends the Frost Powder effect, and spawns a Bloated Snowfall Tuber upon death.
New Mechanics
Frost Dust is a property carried by each infected chunk. When the value reaches 10,000, the biome will irreversibly transform into the White Barrens.
New Biome
White Barrens: This biome only spawns creatures composed of Icepetal Dryadbloom. It snows continuously, and grass and water appear gray.
New Creature
Frostfall Bee: Native to the White Barrens, immune to powder snow, and regenerates health quickly. It actively attacks hostile entities with 20 HP or less and permanently has Frost Powder level 10 and Over-Rooting. Blindfrost Beast:This mob spawns in theWhite Barrens biome. It searches for unlooted chests nearby and coats them with its slime. When a player opens such a chest, they will receive the Frosted effect at level 5 and the Frost Powder effect. When attacked,it will call upon nearby creatures affected by Over-Rooting to target the attacker, and inflict the Frosted effect at level 3 on all enemies in the area. Players under theOver-Rooting effect can offer it Rooted Snowfall Taro to obtain its slime, which can be used to coat containers to prevent theft.
The mod is still in development. Please report any bugs to the author.

- Update Log:**
- Fixed a bug where brewing recipes would work on any potion.
- Fixed a bug causing data overflow due to excessively long freeze durations in-game.
- Optimized event code.
- Added a new format for the potion whitelist in the configuration file.
Modified the Snowfield Zombie: zombies at greater distances now regenerate health and throw snowballs more quickly.
Reworked the adaptation system code:
When taking suffocation damage and adaptation reaches 60%, a portion of the oxygen bar is restored.
When taking fire damage and adaptation reaches 20%, burn duration is reduced based on adaptation level.
When taking frost damage and adaptation reaches 20%, chill duration is reduced based on adaptation level.
Abandoned using block states to store Coagulated Mass Block values; now uses block orientation instead. When a Coagulated Mass Block is generated, it faces the Bloated Snowfall Taro Tuber it spawned from. When querying the Coagulated Mass Block's value, it dynamically reads the value from the Bloated Snowfall Taro Tuber in that direction, avoiding the need for extra block states.
Modified converted blocks: infected blocks now increase their frost dust value on each random tick.
Added a sound effect when the damage cap is triggered.
The marker from the Chilblains Rush effect is now removed when the effect expires, rather than persisting permanently.
Modified the Bloated Snowfall Taro Tuber:
If a valid Respawn Stabilizer Anchor is present within the conversion range and the Bloated Snowfall Taro Tuber has stored a creature, it will now directly resurrect that creature.
Modified Salted Mashed Beans, Rooted Snowball, and Frost Erosion Arrow so they can be properly used by dispensers.
Adjusted some particle effects and applied several new particle effects.
- Changelog:**
- New Commands Added:**
/cryofloric_arts getdata <entity>– Retrieves mod-internal stored data for the specified entity./cryofloric_arts frost_dust– Performs operations related to frost dust. Supports the following sub‑commands:get– Retrieves the frost dust value at the given coordinates.add– Increases the frost dust value.remove– Decreases the frost dust value.format– Resets the frost dust value for the specified chunk to its initial state.
- Configuration Added:**
- Added a config file that provides adjustable multipliers for the adaptation system's scaling factors (increase/decrease).
Fixed some known issues.
Added new items:
Bloated Snowfall Taro
Symbiotic Seed Pod
Over-Fasciated Specimen
Fortune Templates
Added a new crafting mechanic:
While under the Over-Rooting effect, items can be crafted by simply holding them in hand. The NBT data of the item remains consistent before and after crafting.
Custom recipes can be added via data packs.
Fixed the bug where the Fluorescent Torch could not be placed on walls
Fixed the bug where the Patterned Anvil would break
Fixed a bug in the White Barrens biome that prevented mob spawning, potentially causing game crashes
Fixed an energy display error for the Surge Frost Dust Generator on servers
Fixed a bug where reviving a creature with a faster random tick speed caused the entity to continue playing its death animation, leading to duplicate UUIDs and causing the Bloated Snowfall Taro Tuber to disappear
Fixed a model mapping error for the Blight-Sorrow Fence Gate
Reset and optimized the enhancement system to reduce its performance impact
Added a method to detect enhancement-related crafting recipes within data packs
Warning: Due to modifications to certain code and methods, compatibility with add-ons and integrations for this mod may be affected. Please wait for compatibility updates from add-on authors.
Modified the Snowfield Zombie's AI so it no longer turns around while fleeing, and adjusted its movement speed when fleeing—it now flees more slowly.
Modified the Rooted Snowball: If the user does not have the Frost Powder effect when it hits, the snowball now grants the Frost Powder effect.
Fixed a potential server crash issue.
Added a new enhancement: Thorny Weave
This enhancement is an armor enhancement. When the wearer is injured, it deals up to 10 points of frost damage to the attacker as thorns, and also triggers other offensive enhancement effects on the armor.
This enhancement has a 5% chance to be applied to the armor when the wearer, equipped with armor that has the Frosted Item enhancement, takes damage.
Fixed an issue where the SurgeFrostDustGenerator's burn bar would increase power generation efficiency whether it was full or not, and the burn bar's length has been increased tenfold.
Added a configurable option for whether to transform blocks.
Snowfield Zombie: This creature inflicts the Frosted effect with its melee attacks. When its health drops below 50%, it will flee and attack by throwing Rooted Snowballs.
The creature regenerates health faster and gains increased maximum health when exposed to sunlight.
It naturally spawns in the White Barrens biome, and can also transform from zombie-type creatures in areas with Frost Dust value.
add more config
Fixed a bug where initial achievements would automatically activate due to invalid tags.
Added a new configuration file: Whether to prevent the generation of Bloated Snowfall Taro Tubers. Default is false.
Fixed parts of the localization.
Added descriptions for some items.
Fixed a bug where Frost Dust Blocks could not be auto-input into the Surge Frost Dust Generator.
Cleaned up a portion of redundant/obsolete files.
Now the durability lost by Patterned tools/armor cannot exceed 20% of their maximum durability. (However, since Patterned armor already limits damage taken by mobs to 95% of max health, even high damage won't cause significant durability loss, and tools don't lose large amounts of durability at once... This change is mainly to synchronize the mechanic with the Corroded Shield.)
Modified the loot tables for Frost Grass and Aquatic Frigid Grass. Shearing these blocks now drops the block itself instead of the usual drops.
- Update Log:**
- Modified the rendering of Over-Rooting. It will now render the model directly instead of creating a new entity for rendering.
- Removed the rendering entity: Tuberous Root.
- Modified the Creative Mode inventory, adding some previously unimplemented items.
- Implemented Snow-Ornamented Farmland: Using a hoe on Frosted Dirt will now turn it into Snow-Ornamented Farmland.
- Added three new crops, which can be planted on Snow-Ornamented Farmland:
- Sweet Curling Grass:** Has three growth stages. When harvested and consumed, it quickly restores health, grants the Frost Powder effect, consumes 8 hunger points, and increases saturation by 4.8.
- Salt Crystal Bean:** Has five growth stages. While growing, it fertilizes nearby fertilizable blocks. The item can also be crafted into Salted Mashed Beans, which can be used for fertilization.
- Winter Thorn:** Has three growth stages. When consumed, it increases hunger by 12 points but decreases saturation by 3.6. It also applies the Frost Powder and Frosted effects.
- Modified the texture for the Blindfrost Beast Egg.
- Added Frost Grass: Mining it has a chance to drop seeds for the three new crops.
- Modified the Transformation Sac. It now has a 75% chance to transform into Frost Grass, 15% into Dryas Ice Petal, 10% into Frostsore Grass, and 5% into Blight-Sorrow Sapling.
- Fixed a bug where the Surge Frost Dust Generator could be transformed into Powder Snow.
- Added the Frost Dust Block. It can be used in machines within the mod that consume Frost Dust to generate energy. Its burn time is 9 times that of Frost Dust and requires Frost Dust to craft.
Surge Frost Dust Generator:
Consumes the Frost Dust stored within it to generate power (FE) and accumulates the machine's "Root Tendrils" value. The presence of this value will cause a Powder Snow-like chilling effect to creatures nearby. When the Root Tendrils value overflows, it will rapidly inflict frost damage to creatures, with a maximum damage of 5. Simultaneously, the rate of Frost Dust consumption will be multiplied by 5.
Each Frost Dust item can generate 100 FE, and the machine itself can store up to 80,000 FE. The stored power will automatically be transmitted to nearby energy-storing devices.
Modified the Over-Rooting effect, making it more difficult to remove.
Modified Rooted Snowfall Taro — it can now be used to plant Snowfall Taro plants.
Modified Life Multiplier and Frost Avoidance effects — they can no longer be removed with milk.
2. Modified the Snow Accumulation Detector; it will now display "Suppressed" when encountering negative Frost Dust values.
3. Added Possessed Snowfall Taro, which can be used as a brewing ingredient to craft Awkward Potions. Consuming it may grant the Soul Percolation or Soul Strike effect.
