Ever wanted to get more out of the vanilla advancement system of minecraft? Then Custom Advancements is for you.
Features:
- Add as many custom advancements as you like simply by placing their json files into the customadvancements folder in your game directory.
- Simply remove certain advancements from the game.
- Edit in-game advancements and advancements of other mods as you like! Even supports translations!
- Change how advancements behave, making it necessary to have the parent advancement achieved in order to achieve the next one!
- Is the game to easy for you? Let the mod reset your advancements when you die!
- Change the order of the advancement tabs in the advancements screen via the config.
- Bored of the same old, endless repeating background textures used by minecraft? Use your own custom background images for your advancement tabs or let the mod draw a fancy gradient!
Each feature also works with the advancements of other mods and can be toggled via config options!
This mod is especially useful for modpack creators who want to base their modpack on an advancement system.
I'm sorry that there haven't been any updates for the past two years but university took all my time. I'm currently working on a revamp of the mod for 1.21.1 for forge, neoforge and fabric including improvements and quality of life updates. I'm also planning on adding more customization options for the advancements screen. So stay tuned for updates (which hopefully will happen sooner than later).

### Customizable advancement screen size
- The advancement screen can now be **enlarged** to use the available screen space.
- New client config file
customadvancements-client.tomlwith the optionadvancementScreenSize(0–100 %, default90). - The space for the advancement tabs (and Forge's tab page buttons) is always keptfree, and the screen never gets smaller than its vanilla size (
0= vanilla size). - The window frame, the background, the tabs, the tooltips and the centering/scrollingof the content all adapt to the new size.
- Root advancements that have a dummy parent in the
connectedAdvancementsListnow show that parent **as a translucent widget** next to them, including the connection
- New client config option
connectedParentOpacity(0–100 %, default40). Setting it
0 turns this display off completely.- The parent is only shown if the player can already see it.
- The window title now shows the **name of the selected tab** instead of"Advancements". Long names are cut off at the window border.
- Tab tooltips that would leave the screen at the top are now shown below the mouse.
- New option
progressionBlacklist: a list of advancements that are **not affected**
- New option
progressionBlacklistIsWhitelist: turns the list into a whitelist, so - only** the listed advancements are affected.
- Both lists support **wildcards**:
modid:*matches all advancements of a mod, and
modid:path/* matches all advancements inside a folder (e.g. minecraft:story/*).- Wildcards work in
advancementsBlacklistas well. - Entries of the
connectedAdvancementsListalways take precedence over the progression blacklist.
- Custom background textures, translations and advancement backgrounds are now **sent from the server to the client**. Players on a dedicated server no longer need the files locally.
- Advancement files are loaded asynchronously, which speeds up loading.
