INFORMATION

MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF YOUR MENU BLUR IN ACCESSIBILITY!

This mod is meant to be used with ProtoManly's weather mod, or else it will not work.

This mod adds a way for EAS transmissions signals to be reached to a player, adding an immersive and realistic tone to the mod.

You have full permission under the mod's license to use this in any modpacks or modify it in any way.

To obtain the Tom TTS voice, this addon connects to an online API to retrieve the necessary audio files.

HOW TO USE [UPDATED]

Craft an place an EAS Block. Most recipes can be found in the gallery. You may place it anywhere. Place a PMWeather weather station directly next to the EAS block. Craft an EAS Transmitter and then shift-click the EAS block. When a storm is in range, the EAS will go off and issue a warning appropriate to the strength of the storm.

You can also place a Radar block direclty next to the EAS block in order to receive polygons on radar.

Whoever places an EAS Block becomes its owner automatically. The owner of the block, plus server ops, can issue warnings from it manually by right-clicking, OR open the permissions GUI by shift-clicking to add/remove people from using it.

HOW TO ISSUE WARNINGS

By changing the warngen settings in the configuration menu, you can set whether or not warnings are automatically or manually issued (or both!). In order to manually issue warnings for storms, turn off MANUAL_DISABLED in the configuration and switch it elsewhere.

Right-click on an authorized EAS block and you can left-click to add a vertex, right click to remove a vertex, pan the map by using the middle mouse button, scroll to zoom, etc. You can change the type, duration, change map overlays, radar, and customize the EAS text.

TORNADO RATING

Tornadoes are not rated by windspeed but rated by the damage it causes. Similar to a survey team, you too can rate tornadoes by rating the damage it causes by doing the following:

  1. Create a Damage Surveyor and right-click it to list every tornado with any recorded damage.
  2. Find an entry and select the Survey button to start a survey session.
  3. Walk to a chunk the tornado actually damaged, and right-click the ground with the Damage Surveyor, which will run a calculation to estimate the windspeed based off the damage it caused in that chunk. Each chunk can only be surveyed once.
  4. Repeat for 25% of the chunks.
  5. When you reach the 25% minimum, do /survey finish to compile the file EF rating. If you get bored, you can do /survey quit to abandon it.

TOWNS

Towns mimic real-life towns and are used in warning text only. Listed below are the commands for towns:

/easaddon town create <name> <radius> [position]
/easaddon town setnws <name> <true|false>
/easaddon town setmayor <name> <player>
/easaddon town addoperator <name> <player>
/easaddon town removeoperator <name> <player>
/easaddon town setparent <town> <nwsOffice>
/easaddon town setradius <name> <radius>
/easaddon town list
/easaddon town info <name>
/easaddon town delete <name>

Most commands are self-explanatory. Adding an operator to a town means that the player can issue manual warnings from that town. Non-operators cannot issue warnings nor outlooks.

Setting a town as an NWS office will allow the usage of the SPC Station to issue watches and outlooks for the day. Towns that are 'set' to a parent (NWS office town) will be part of such watches and outlooks.

For server owners: these permissions require easaddon.town.admin

COUNTIES

Similar to towns, counties also mimic real-life counties and are used in warning text. However, counties are drawn polygons and restrict which office can warn and where (if a server operator turns on jursidiction enforcement)

Below are the commands:

/county begin <name>
/county point
/county undo
/county cancel
/county finish [office]
/county gui
/county list
/county info <name>
/county assign <name> <office>
/county tp <name>
/county delete <name>

Instead of manually setting points for counties by using /county point, you can also use the GUI by doing /county gui

You can assign counties to NWS offices by using /county assign

SPC

To use the SPC Block,

  1. Create a town and use the town commands to mark it as an NWS office (/easaddon town setnws true)
  2. Place an SPC Block within the town and then right-click to open its GUI and create a station
  3. You may issue watches for the day, auto-gen or manually create outlooks.

A player may craft an Outlook Receiver and right-click it to select a station. Right-click it at any time afterward to get the stations Day 1/2/3 risk for the day and any active watches. If a server owner has turned on enableRiskAutomation in the config, outlooks will regenerate automatically at the start of every day and watches will also automatically issue.

HURRICANES

You can also track and warn for hurricanes by using a new block called the Cyclone Block. You must place this block next to the EAS Block and you can receive warnings like you would for a tornado/severe thunderstorm.

You can also craft a Cyclone Tracker, then shift-right-click the Cyclone Block to bind the tracker to it. Right-clicking anywhere afterward will open up the Cyclone Tracker screen which includes its current position & windspeed remotely.

The names of cyclones can be automatically generated or you can manually create names for cyclones, which is visible in the server config.

TV's

You can craft a TV to view the warnings visually. By right-clicking the TV you can choose the EAS channel which will display warnings via text. Choosing the Weather Channel will allow you to see warnings visually as they appear.

Before placing your TV, hold the TV and shift-right-click on an EAS block to bind to the TV.

On issuance of a warning, text-to-speech will play from the TV and read out the warning text. You can shift-right-click on the TV to mute the voice.

SPOTTER

You can use /spotter confirm tornado to confirm tornadoes, which will update the warning message.

### ADDITIONS:

  • Added a notice when TVs are not bound to EAS blocks

  • Added tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings to TVs

### FIXES

  • Fixed a bug where hurricane warnings being issued caused the client to crash

  • Fixed STOP REQUESTED & radar overlay log spam

  • Fixed a UI bug with cancelling warnings

### REMOVED

  • removed drill mode (it was only supposed to be there for testing no)
  • ADDITIONS:**

  • the obvious, of course, full compatibility with 0.17+ pmweather

  • There is now a county system. Counties are named polygon regions and give warnings proper place news, says which NWS office owns which ground, and can determine the coverage of watches.

You can create counties by standing at each corner of your county in order:

``
/county begin <name>
/county point (repeat at each corner)
/county finish [office]
`

`
/county undo
`
will remove the last point,

`
/county cancel
`
will cancel the current county.

Alternatively, you can use

`
/county gui
``
to open the County editor, which does the same job on a map.

  • Added NWS Jursidiction Enforcement option. An office's jurisdiction is the set of the counties assigned to it. Turning on NWSJurisdictionEnforcement in the server settings and creating a warning which has area outside of the jurisdiction of an NWS office will result in that county being trimmed. Enabling AllowWarmOutsideOwnJurisdiction will allow warning area to overlap unclaimed area.

It is advised to have TrimtToCounties *on* so that you can clip the polygon instead of rejecting it entirely.

  • WarnGen Customization, where you can change the issued product text, visible in the warngen menu.

  • There are now map controls in the warngen UI. You can now toggle town, land, county overlays, change the radar product, amend the points of existing polygons, cancel warnings, etc. You can scroll out and move around with the middle mouse button at a whim.

  • added perms (easaddon.town.admin)

  • Refined autogenerated risks

  • Added a config option to set the IP address of the TTS server, in preparation for releasing the full TTS server for release

  • Registered addon with pmweather

  • FIXES:**

  • Fixed a dreaded bug where the volume for TTS did not save as the player moved between worlds

  • Fixed a bug where a storm expiring anywhere was used to stop whatever got announced

  • The NWR tone and SAME Header now is bound by the same stop mechanics as TTS, meaning they will not persist if you stop your game or leave the game

  • A lot of other things not mentioned

  • Fixed some text overlap

  • Did a UI overhaul on select uis i didn't really like lol
### ADDITIONS:

WARNGEN capability has been added for manually drawing warnings, which can be enabled-disabled by the server using the following CONFIG options:

AUTO_DISABLED: Disables automatic warnings entirely, only allowing for manual warnings.
AUTO_FALLBACK_WHEN_NO_TOWN_OPS_ONLINE: Only allows automatic warnings when there are no town operators online for the specified EAS block.
BOTH_ENABLED: Both automatic and manual warnings are enabled
MANUAL_DISABLED: Automatic warnings only.

Storm Anchoring required: Requires warngen operators to have a real storm within the polygon

Additionally, a maximum area, a maximum issue range, a maximum duration, and a cooldown can be instituted per player

Operators can do warnGen by right-clicking on the EAS block when warngen is enabled.

For EAS blocks not within a specific town, WarnGen will only be able to be used by the person who placed down the EAS block. The person who placed the eas block can add operators for warngen by shift-clicking the EAS block and inserting a name. They can be removed at any time.

Automatic watches have been added, based on the SPC Day 1 outlook generated by the SPC block. You will need to generate a day1 outlook for automatic watches to work. Watches are issued at the start of every day based off the SPC day 1 outlook.

You can disable auto-issuance in the config, and disable allowing players to manually issue watches in the config.

Automatic watches can be received through the EAS transmitter now.

Added options in the config to allow for local vs global warning coverage in the weather channel.

### REMOVED:

Removed creating watch polygons & watch durations

Alert beeps and the EAS tone should no longer play on the TV if the storm is decreasing in strength (ex. from a tornado emergency to PDS warning)

TTS should now stop completely when the game is paused and when you leave the world

TTS should be issued only one time per warning

TTS should now stop completely when the TV block is destroyed, and should stop when the warning in question is manually or automatically cancelled.

### FIXES:

Fixed a huge bug with radar. Thank you to @broomalune for showing me this huge bug
Forge release!

Fixed some errors with recipes

Compatable only with PMweather 0.16.4-1.20.1
# EAS VOICE SHOULD WORK ON ALL DEVICES WITH THIS VERSION, IF YOU HAD ISSUES WITH NOT HEARING THE EAS VOICE WHEN EAS WAS ACTIVATED ON TV

  • ADDITIONS:**

Added a new craftable TV, which binds to the EAS block and displays active warnings on its screen. You must shift-click the TV to an EAS block to create a connection, and then place down. There are two channels:

1. EAS channel, which will relay warnings for the local area.

2. Weather channel, which will relay a biome-colored map of the surrounding area and a live radar reflectivity painted over the map. It will also relay active warning polygons throughout the server.

EAS Tom voice added for all of these channels, which can be muted by shift-clicking the TV. **You will need an internet connection to use EAS Tom.**

  • EAS TOM MAY NOT WORK WITH SOME INTERNET CONNECTIONS, SO PLEASE DOWNLOAD 0.16.4-SERVERFIX**

You can change channels by right-clicking the tv.

# ADDITIONS

Added a config

Added options in the configuration to extend the range of storm detection by the EAS block, manageable in singleplayer/multiplayer

Added four blocks/items: Cyclone Tracker, Cyclone Block, SPC Station, and the Outlook Receiver.

The Cyclone Tracker will allow you to track hurricane windspeed, width and direction. It must be shift-click bounded to the Cyclone block (which must also be directionally attached to a working EAS Transmitter) to work.

You can toggle between automatic, manual, or disabled hurricane naming in the configuration.

You can add your own names to the hurricane naming list in the configuration

Added hurricane / tropical storm polygons

Added hurricane / tropical storm watches which will warn you of incoming hurricanes

Added support for town creation by doing /easaddon town. This allows for localized warnings texts such as:

``
NWS Springfield has issued a Tornado Warning for Joplin
``

You can set towns under the jurisdiction of an NWS office

You can manually set tornado or severe thunderstorm watches by using the SPC Station block within a registered NWS office.

You can modify speciifc severe probabilities within a watch.

You can now issue outlooks for your local SPC office if you are an operator or the mayor of a town, up until day 3, manually or automatically.

Added abilitiy to 'pin' tornadoes and hurricanes in their respective GUIs so that it prevents them from being cleaned up when attempting to clear inactive entries (thanks @trb_anims)

Added a config option to turn down the volume of the EAS tone

Added a config option to switch between the time format for EAS alerts

Added a config option to disable the debug output

# CHANGES

Damage calculations should now sufficiently account for ground scouring and debarking, no matter if the tornado is beyond render distance or not. This should increase the rating on tornadoes that are extremely powerful but dont hit a lot of things to warrant a higher rating.

Fixed a bug where players could not further rate a tornado after the first rating

Fixed a bug with warning polygon placement over large distances on radar that originally prevented me from adding a configuration to extend the range

Fixed tornadoes that are clearly active in game but registered as inactive in the damage surveyor

Bug fixes

Plenty more probably
### ADDITIONS:

Added support for tree debarking in damage calculations

### FIXES

Fixed a HUGE bug where particularly large tornadoes were not able to be surveyed properly

Fixed 'status ended' bug (hopefully)

Fixed a GUI glitch in the damage survey screen

Damage calculations should be more accurate now

### FIXES

Tornado widths now no longer affect if the tornado was surveyable or not (for tornadoes with less than 15 width)

Fixed (hopefully) a client-server discrepancy wherein the client and server did not agree on whether chunks were surveyable or not

Fixed mouse cursor not lining up with tornado selection

Fixed 'Survey' being the max width in the main screen

Fixed problem where tornado data from one world would port to another one

Fixed GUI scale hiding crucial buttons

### CHANGES

Changed tornado colors so that theyre more contrasting

Thanks to official_tube on discord for finding half of these bugs
# THE TORNADO RATING UPDATE!

You can now rate tornadoes! Refer to the video below to demonstrate how rating works.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/F2UvlhCo6JU" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

  • Fixed a typo in warning messages

  • Hopefully fixed some other bugs i forgot to mention here

### CHANGES

  • Radar overlay block is destroyed when the corresponding radar is

  • Made polygons update 5x slower to add support for slower PCs

  • Radar overlay block now does not get in the way of radar

### FIXES:
