🌌 AOneBlock – One Block, Infinite Adventure
Welcome to the world of OneBlock — where your entire world begins with just one magical block in space.
AOneBlock is a multiplayer-ready twist on the popular OneBlock survival concept, originally created by IJAminecraft for single-player. Built from the ground up on the BentoBox platform, this plugin lets your players experience an epic journey — starting from nothing but a single block... and building a thriving world.
Related: ChunkBlock - one block and one chunk - an extra dimension!
🎮 What Is AOneBlock?
- 🧱 Start with one block — floating in the void.
- 🪓 Break it, and another one appears.
- 🌀 Progress through phases — like Plains, Underground, Nether, End, and more.
- ⛏️ Survive, gather, and expand — every block counts!
Each OneBlock world is filled with over 12,000 unique block placements, evolving through thematic phases that change the pace, resources, and challenges. Once players finish the final phase, the loop begins again — ensuring long-term replayability.
AOneBlock is inspired by SkyBlock but offers a distinct gameplay experience:
- Resource scarcity is different (e.g., water is harder to get early).
- No need for cobblestone generators — the block gives what you need.
- Players get a new kind of challenge that rewards strategy and persistence.
⚙️ Installation Guide
AOneBlock requires the BentoBox plugin to run.

❓ FAQ
Q: What are the available phases?
A: There are 12 phases:
Plains, Underground, Winter, Ocean, Jungle, Swamp, Dungeon, Desert, The Nether, Plenty, Desolation, Deep Dark, and The End.
Q: How many blocks does a single run have?
A: About 12,000 blocks — enough to keep players busy for days or weeks!
Q: What happens after finishing all phases?
A: The cycle begins again — starting back at Plains.
Q: Why do I keep falling and dying!? A: There are tricks to surviving, but it might be difficult! You need to build space so you don’t fall.
Q: I can’t catch the blocks when I mine them! How do I do that? A: You can’t catch them all, but it is an infinite block!
Q: Why do certain blocks spawn more frequently than others? A: They just do! It’s random. You can set the relative probability in the config files in the phases folder. Admins can also force specific blocks at specific times. (Look out for the sponge!)
Q: How do I know which is the magic block? A: Hit it and it’ll give off green particles — and it’s located at the center of your island.
Q: My magic block is no longer there! How do I get another one? A: Place a block at the original location. If needed, die and respawn — a new one will generate.
Q: My magic block is liquid! How can I mine it?v A:** Use a bucket.
Q: Which mobs can spawn? A: Each phase includes different mobs. Be cautious — they might push you off! Listen carefully while mining.
Q: I have no chance to react to hostile mobs spawning! A: Be prepared! Hostile mobs make noise before spawning. Mine from a distance and build defenses.
Q: When mobs spawn, my defenses are destroyed! Why? A: Mobs clear space when they spawn. Blocks in their way will break and drop. Design your defenses accordingly.
Q: Do chests spawn? A: Yes! They appear randomly and match the current phase. There are common, uncommon, rare, and epic chests. Sparkly chests are valuable!
Q: Is it possible to reach the Nether or End in this map? A: You can access the vanilla Nether, but the End is a phase, not a dimension.
Q: What is the end goal? A: It’s whatever you want it to be.

Minecraft 26.3 brings the Dappled Forest biome, and AOneBlock 1.28.0 adds it as a new phase. Players who finish Sulfur Caves now get an autumn forest of poplar trees before looping back to Plains. The phase is full of poplar logs, yellow, orange and red poplar leaves, leaf litter and red shrubs, with wool stairs in every colour mixed in. Its chests hold cushions, straw beds, spears and other 26.3 items.
Servers that are already running AOneBlock get the new phase automatically. Until now, phases shipped in a later version never reached a server that already had a
phases_index.yml. The index now remembers which shipped phases it has seen, so future phases will arrive the same way. Phases that an admin removed stay removed.
This release also fixes a crash in the block-break handler when no phase covers the current block count, and updates the death-setting comments in
config.yml for Level 2.29.0.
# ✨ Highlights
### 🍂 Dappled Forest phase
- When it happens:** after Sulfur Caves, for 500 blocks. The loop back to Plains moves from block 15500 to 16000.
- Blocks:** poplar logs, yellow, orange and red poplar leaves (made persistent, so they don't decay), leaf litter, red shrub, grass, dirt and stone. All 16 colours of the new wool stairs are included, so every wool stair is a random colour.
- Mobs:** based on the biome's natural spawns: sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, rabbits and foxes, plus the usual overworld hostile mobs. Passive mobs are weighted up so the phase isn't mostly hostile.
- Chests:** six chests with poplar saplings, shelf mushrooms, leaf litter, cushions in many colours, straw beds, a copper axe, a spyglass, an iron spear, a poplar chest boat and diamonds.
- Minecraft 26.3 only.** The biome and its blocks don't exist before 26.3. On older servers the phase is skipped and takes up no blocks, just as Sulfur Caves is on servers older than 26.2.
### 🔺 New phases reach existing servers
A server's
phases_index.yml belongs to that server: it holds the admin's phase order, lengths and enabled flags, so an upgrade never replaces it. The downside was that phases shipped in later versions never appeared on a server that already had an index.
- The index now has a
shippedPhaseslist, recording every phase this server has been offered from the addon jar. - On startup, a shipped phase is added if it isn't in the index and has never been offered. It goes straight after the phase that comes before it in the shipped order, even if the admin has moved that phase. Its phase and chest files are copied into the
phasesfolder. - If you delete a phase's entry and files, it doesn't come back, because it's already in
shippedPhases. To just turn a phase off, disabling it in/oba phasesstill works as before.
### 🐛 Fixes
- Block-break handler no longer throws an NPE when no phase covers the block count** ([PR #564](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/564)). This could happen if a goto pointed below the first phase or phase files failed to load. Now AOneBlock logs an error with the island and block number, and cancels the break so the magic block isn't lost.
### ⚙️ Config comments for Level 2.29.0
[PR #562](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/562). Level 2.29.0 tracks deaths per island itself. The comments on the
deaths settings in config.yml now explain which settings still affect island levels:
countedis still the on/off switch.maxnow caps deaths per island member.team-join-resetandreset-on-new-*only affect BentoBox's own death counter.
Only comments changed. No keys or defaults were altered, so existing configs are unaffected.
# ⚙️ Compatibility
✔️ BentoBox API 3.22.0+
✔️ Minecraft 26.x, or 1.21.5+. The Sulfur Caves phase needs 26.2+ and the Dappled Forest phase needs 26.3+.
✔️ Java 25 server, required by BentoBox 3.22.0
# 🔺 Updating: important notes
🔺 **Dappled Forest is added to your phase order on the first start.** You'll see
Phase index: added new phase Dappled Forest in the log. The phase goes after Sulfur Caves, and its files are copied into your phases folder. If you don't want it, disable it in /oba phases. Your existing phase order, lengths and enabled flags are not changed.
🔺 **
phases_index.yml gets a new shippedPhases list.** It's written automatically on the first start. Leave it in place: it's how AOneBlock knows which phases you've removed on purpose.
On servers older than 26.3, Dappled Forest is added to the index but skipped when phases load, so it has no effect until you update Minecraft.

This is a bug-fix release. It restores the
my_island_* placeholders for team members, stops NPC/minion plugins from crashing the boss bar, and makes glow lichen and vines from the block pool actually survive being placed. Alongside the fixes, all 18 locale files have been converted to MiniMessage, and the Traditional Chinese translation is complete again.
# 🐛 The fixes
### Placeholders work for team members again ([PR #560](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/560))
Fixes [#559](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/issues/559). Since 1.26.0,
%aoneblock_my_island_count%, %aoneblock_my_island_percent_done%, %aoneblock_my_island_phase% and the other my_island_* placeholders only worked for the island **owner** — team members got the empty defaults (0, 0%, Unknown).
The 1.26.0 change fixed a real bug (players who own an island *and* are a member of another team saw the team island's data instead of their own), but it over-corrected by resolving only owned islands. The lookup is now a preference order: an island the player owns wins, and a player who owns none falls back to the team island they are a member of. Both scenarios now show the right island.
### Boss bar no longer breaks under minion/NPC plugins ([PR #558](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/558))
Fixes [#557](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/issues/557). When JetsMinions (or any plugin that breaks blocks via armor-stand entities) mined the magic block, the resulting
MagicBlockEvent carries no player UUID — and BossBarListener passed that null straight to User.getInstance(), throwing IllegalArgumentException: UUID id cannot be null on every break. The listener now returns early when there is no player: there is nobody to show a bar to.
### Glow lichen and vines survive being placed ([PR #556](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/556))
Glow lichen in the Lush Caves phase (and vines in Mangrove Swamp) spawned with default block data — attached to **no** face. It looked fine, but the first neighbouring block update deleted it, and bone meal could not spread it, so it was effectively unobtainable.
Multiface plants (
GLOW_LICHEN, VINE, SCULK_VEIN, RESIN_CLUMP) are now attached to whatever solid neighbours are already there. If the plant would be floating with nothing to hold on to, the magic block becomes a support block instead (moss for lichen and vines, sculk for sculk veins) with the plant growing on it. Placed this way it survives updates, drops to shears, and spreads with bone meal — normal vanilla behaviour.
# 🔡 Locale changes
### All locale files converted to MiniMessage ([PR #555](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/555))
BentoBox text is MiniMessage now, and all 18 bundled locale files have been converted from legacy
&-codes to match — every value machine-converted with BentoBox's own converter and verified character-by-character to render identically.
> 🔡 **No action is needed.** Legacy
&-codes still parse, so customized locale files in your locales/ folder keep working unchanged. The bundled reference files are simply MiniMessage from now on.
### Traditional Chinese translation completed ([PR #553](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/553))
@qwe664 added the 26 keys missing from
zh-TW.yml since v1.27.0 and revised existing translations for consistency with common Taiwan Minecraft community terminology.

This release fixes silent, repeated loss of island progress. If a player was online when the server restarted, their block count rolled back to the last checkpoint — up to 49 blocks of mining undone, every restart. It was reported on Discord as *"it's not saving the progress"*, and it affected every server on a BentoBox older than 3.22.0.
Alongside that, phase text can now be coloured with **MiniMessage and hex colours**, not just the sixteen legacy
& codes — gradients included.
> 🔺 **This release requires BentoBox 3.22.0, which requires a Java 25 server.** Read the compatibility and updating notes below before upgrading.
# ✨ Highlights
### 🔺 Island progress no longer lost on restart ([PR #550](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/550))
The shutdown save was queued rather than written. AOneBlock is a Pladdon, so the server disables it **before** BentoBox — the write went into a queue that BentoBox had to drain on its way out, and every BentoBox before 3.22.0 discarded it silently.
With the shutdown save lost, the count fell back to the last periodic checkpoint, which was hardcoded at every 50 blocks. Break fewer than 50 blocks between restarts and **nothing persisted at all**.
The shutdown save is now a direct write, so it no longer depends on the core draining a queue in time. Nine bundled addons shared this bug; BentoBox 3.22.0 fixed it centrally, and this release makes AOneBlock independent of that fix as well.
### ⚙️ New setting:
island.save-every
How often progress is written to the database, in blocks broken. **Defaults to 10**, replacing the old hardcoded 50.
Progress is also saved on every phase change, when a player logs out, and at shutdown — so this only governs how much can be lost if the server dies *without* shutting down cleanly (a crash, a
kill -9, a hosting panel force-restart). At the new default that is at most 9 blocks, against 49 before. Lower is safer and writes more often; the minimum is 1.
Nothing helps if the JVM is killed outright — there is no shutdown path left to run — so if restarts still roll progress back after this release, the restart is not a clean one.
### 🎨 MiniMessage and hex colours in phase text ([PR #551](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/551))
Reported by an admin who coloured a hologram with
<green>Начало (Равнина)</green> and got white text with the tags shown literally.
Holograms only ever understood the sixteen legacy
& codes — not MiniMessage, and not even &#RRGGBB hex. The action bar used a *different* serializer that did support hex but not MiniMessage. Two display paths, two different answers to "what formatting can I use here".
Both now accept all of it, and it can be mixed:
``
yaml
holograms:
0: "&a&lGood Luck!" # legacy codes
1: "7FF55Good Luck!" # hex
2: "<green>Good Luck!" # MiniMessage
3: "<gradient:#55FF55:#00AA00>Good Luck!</gradient>" # gradients
`
The same applies to the action bar and to locale strings. **Existing & codes keep working** — nothing needs changing.
This also fixes § codes appearing as literal text: translated strings arrive already converted to §, which the old &-only serializer left in the output. That affected the starting hologram and the action bar.
### 📄 The phase file is now properly documented ([PR #548](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/548))
0_plains.yml is the reference phase file, and its comments never explained the single most confusing thing about it: the numbers. It now spells out that numbers in blocks:, mobs: and custom-blocks: are **weights** sharing one pool (with a worked example), that keys in fixedBlocks: and holograms: are **positions within the phase**, and that the top-level key is the phase's start block — with a pointer to phases_index.yml for phase order and length. The accepted colour syntaxes are documented next to holograms:.
# ⚙️ Compatibility
✔️ BentoBox API **3.22.0+** — this is a hard requirement, see below
✔️ Minecraft 26.x, or 1.21.5+ — the Sulfur Caves phase activates on 26.2+
✔️ **Java 25 server** — inherited from BentoBox 3.18.0+
# 🔺 Updating — important notes
🔺 **BentoBox 3.22.0 or newer is required.** The shutdown fix uses API added in 3.22.0. api-version has been raised to match, so on an older core BentoBox refuses to load the addon and logs *"Cannot load AOneBlock because it requires BentoBox version 3.22.0 or greater. NOTE: Please update BentoBox."* That is deliberate — loading anyway would fail at shutdown with a NoSuchMethodError, which is worse than the bug being fixed. **Update BentoBox first.**
🔺 **Your server must run Java 25.** BentoBox has needed a Java 25-capable Paper build since 3.18.0, and requiring 3.22.0 makes that AOneBlock's requirement too. If your server is on Java 21, upgrade the JVM before upgrading either jar.
⚙️ **island.save-every is added to config.yml** on first start, defaulting to 10. Existing configs pick up the default automatically; no manual edit is needed. Set it higher if you would rather trade crash safety for fewer database writes.
🎨 **No phase or locale file changes are needed.** Legacy &` codes are untouched and keep working. MiniMessage is opt-in — just start using the tags where you want them.

This is a small bug-fix release for the phases GUI. Players who are not allowed to change their phase were still being told they could —
/ob phases offered the "Click to change" tooltip to everyone, and clicking it produced a permission error instead of a phase change.
# 🐛 The fix
### "Click to change" is only offered when the click can succeed ([PR #545](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/545))
The phases panel decided whether to offer the SELECT action from island state and phase requirements alone — whether the player was on their island, whether the phase had already been reached, and whether its requirements were met. It never checked whether the player held the permission of the
setcount command that the click actually runs. On servers where aoneblock.island.setcount is negated for some or all ranks, players saw the tooltip on every eligible phase and got *"You don't have the permission to execute this command"* when they clicked.
The panel now resolves the
setcount subcommand and checks its permission before offering the action, so the tooltip appears only for players who can use it. If the subcommand cannot be resolved for any reason, the panel stays permissive as before and lets the command's own permission check decide — no phase becomes unclickable because of this change.
Players who **do** hold the permission see no difference.
This is the same defect that was fixed in ChunkBlock ([ChunkBlock #11](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/ChunkBlock/issues/11)); that panel was derived from this code and both carried the missing check.

This is a bug-fix release for a loot regression introduced in 1.26.0. Chest items were arriving **stripped of their item meta** — the most visible symptom was enchanted books from the Plains chests with no enchantments on them at all, but it applied to every chest item in every phase: potions, tipped arrows, custom-named items, banners, player heads and written books all came out blank.
If you are on AOneBlock 1.26.0 or 1.26.1, update.
# 🐛 The fix
### Chest items keep their meta again ([PR #543](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/543))
Since 1.26.0, chest files have been read with plain SnakeYAML rather than
YamlConfiguration, so that an item unknown to your server version can be skipped on its own instead of taking down the whole chest file. The side effect was that nothing was deserialized on the way in: an item's meta section arrived as a plain map, and Bukkit's item deserializer silently ignores meta that is not already an ItemMeta. The enchantments, potion effects and names were dropped without a single line in the log.
Chest item definitions are now walked properly and their meta is deserialized before the item is built, so it survives. The 1.26.0 behaviour you want is unchanged — an item that does not exist on your Minecraft version is still skipped with a log line, and the rest of the chest still loads. A meta section that cannot be read now costs only its meta, and says so in the log, rather than losing the item.
Verified on a real Paper 26.2 server against the shipped phase files: 1.26.0 produced 0 of 3 Plains enchanted books with enchantments, this release produces 3 of 3.
- No phase file changes are needed.** The old-style enchantment names in the shipped phase YAML (
PROTECTION_FALLand friends) are still translated by the server, so your customized chest files work as they are.

Items that players have **already** looted stay as they are — the meta was lost when the chest was filled, so there is nothing to repair after the fact. Every chest generated from now on is correct.
# What's Changed
- Keep item meta on chest items by @tastybento in https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/543
- Full Changelog**: https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/compare/1.26.1...1.26.2
This is a bug-fix release for the 1.26.0 phase index, driven directly by admin feedback. In 1.26.0, upgrading servers received the *stock*
phases_index.yml, which references the current jar's file names — but existing phases/ folders hold older or customized layouts. Phases silently failed to load, Sulfur Caves never appeared on upgraded servers, and the /oba phases panel showed a preset instead of the server's reality.
- The phases folder is now the source of truth.** On every start (and every panel save), the index is reconciled with the files actually on disk, so what you see in
/oba phasesis what your server really runs. This release also adds **phase length editing** to the admin panel and makes **numeric file names/keys optional** for custom phases.
# ✨ Highlights
### 🔺 Self-healing phase index ([PR #541](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/541))
The index is reconciled with the
phases/ folder on every load:
- An index entry whose file was **renamed across addon versions** (e.g. your
11000_deep_dark.ymlvs. the jar's10500_deep_dark) is re-pointed at your file by phase name — the phase loads again. - An entry whose file is **missing but shipped in the jar** (e.g.
15000_sulfur_caves.yml, which is never copied into an existing folder) is restored automatically. Sulfur Caves now appears on upgraded 26.2 servers. - Custom phase files** dropped into the folder are added to the index automatically — numeric keys slot in at their legacy start block, anything else is appended at the end for you to arrange in the GUI.
- Entries whose files are gone for good are removed with a warning, so the panel never shows phases that don't exist.
- When repair was needed, phase **lengths are recomputed from your files' legacy start-block keys**, preserving the layout your server actually ran before the index existed (e.g. a 7000→8000 Desert stays 1000 blocks, not the preset's 500).
### 🔡 Set phase lengths in
/oba phases ([PR #541](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/541))
- Shift-left-click** a phase to set its length: the panel closes and a chat prompt shows the current length. Type a whole number to apply it (starts recompute immediately and the panel reopens), or
cancelto keep it. Invalid input re-prompts; the prompt times out after 60 seconds. - ⚙️ The first length edit writes
adminLengths: trueintophases_index.yml. From then on, reconciliation never recomputes lengths, so your values survive later file additions, renames, or upgrades.
### 📄 Numbers in phase files are now optional ([PR #541](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/541))
- Custom phase files no longer need a numeric start block in the file name or as the YAML section key —
desert.ymlwith adesert:section works. Chest files pair by file name (<file>_chests.yml), so they work unchanged. - The numbers in the shipped files are historical: with the index in charge, the panel's start/length values are the truth. Numeric keys remain useful as they tell reconciliation where a file belongs and how long it was.
### 🖱️ Panel polish from your feedback
- Phase icons fall back to the phase's **first block** instead of showing stone when no icon is configured.
- 🔡 The "How to use" book wraps onto four lines instead of one screen-wide line, and the per-phase lore is shorter for small monitors.

✔️ Minecraft 1.21.5 or later — the Sulfur Caves phase itself activates on Minecraft 26.2+
✔️ Java 21
# 🔺 Updating — important notes
🔺 **Your
phases_index.yml will likely be rewritten on the first boot** to match the files in your phases folder. Watch the log for lines starting with Phase index: — they tell you exactly what was re-pointed, restored, added, or removed, followed by Updated phases_index.yml to match the files in the phases folder. Phases that vanished after the 1.26.0 upgrade come back on their own, including Sulfur Caves on 26.2+ servers.
🔺 **To remove a phase permanently, delete its files** (or toggle it off in
/oba phases). Deleting only its index entry no longer works — reconciliation will re-add any phase file it finds in the folder.
🔡 **New and changed locale keys** for the length prompt and the reworked panel text — regenerate or update translated locale files.
# 📥 How to update
1. Stop the server. Make a backup just in case.
2. Copy this jar over the old one.
3. Restart the server.
4. Check the startup log for the
Phase index: lines and confirm /oba phases shows your real phase order, starts, and lengths.

# What's Changed
- 🔺 fix: reconcile the phase index with the phases folder on load by @tastybento in https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/541
- Full Changelog**: https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/compare/1.26.0...1.26.1
This release adds the **Sulfur Caves phase** for servers running Minecraft 26.2, and — because shipping a 26.2-only phase to a plugin that also runs on 1.21.x needed real version handling — it introduces a **phase index** that controls which phases load, in what order, and on which server versions. Phases (and even individual blocks, mobs, and chest items) from a newer Minecraft version are now skipped cleanly with a log line instead of throwing stack traces on older servers. On top of the index sits a new admin GUI, **
/oba phases**, that lets you reorder, insert, and toggle phases by clicking them around an inventory panel.
# ✨ Highlights
### 🌋 Sulfur Caves phase ([PR #539](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/pull/539))
- New phase at the 15000 spot: sulfur and cinnabar layered through typical underground blocks, with Sulfur Cubes, cave spiders, and friends at the wiki's exact spawn weights, plus themed chests that can drop the *Bounce* music disc.
- The end-of-game loop moves from 15000 to 15500.
- The phase declares
requiredMinecraftVersion: '26.2'— it appears automatically on 26.2+ servers and is skipped with a single info log on older ones (Jagged Peaks simply runs to the loop point instead).
### 🔺 Phase index —
phases_index.yml
- New file next to the
phasesfolder, now the source of truth for phase **order**, **length**, **enabled state**, and **required Minecraft version**. Start blocks are the running sum of the lengths above, so phases can be moved freely and a skipped phase collapses out of the progression. - The index is read **before** any phase file is parsed, so version-gated phases never touch the YAML parser — this kills the
Tried to load invalid item/ConfigurationSerializationstack traces that newer-version items used to cause on older servers. - Existing installs are migrated automatically: the index is generated from your current phase files on first start. A malformed index falls back to the old direct file loading, so nothing can get stuck.
- Chest files are now read item by item — an item this server version doesn't know (e.g.
pink_harnesson 1.21.5) is skipped with one log line and the rest of the chest loads. - Block and mob entries accept an object form with a per-entry version, used for
DRIED_GHAST(1.21.6) in The Nether:
yaml
DRIED_GHAST:
weight: 25
requiredMinecraftVersion: '1.21.6'
`
### 🖱️ Phase order editor — /oba phases
- 🔡 New admin panel (permission
aoneblock.admin.phases, OP by default) showing every phase in order with its computed start block, length, and state.Click a phase to pick it up — the rest shrink left. Click where it should go to shove the others right and drop it, or use the drop-at-end slot. Click anywhere else (or close the panel) to put it back without saving. Right-click toggles a phase on or off. Drops and toggles save the index and reload the phases immediately. Disabled phases show as gray glass, version-locked ones as barriers — both can still be reordered.

# 🔺 Updating — important notes
🔺 **A phases_index.yml will be generated on first start** from the phase files in your data folder, and from then on it controls phase order and lengths. Worth a quick review after the first boot — especially if you have hand-edited phases.
🔺 **Existing installs don't get the new phase files automatically.** As always, files in addons/AOneBlock/phases/ are never overwritten. To add Sulfur Caves to an existing install, copy 15000_sulfur_caves.yml and 15000_sulfur_caves_chests.yml from the jar into your phases folder and add its entry to phases_index.yml (or start with a fresh data folder).
🔡 **New locale keys** were added for the phase order editor — regenerate or update translated locale files.

- Full Changelog**: https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/compare/1.25.2...1.26.0
This is a bug-fix release.
- Jobs Reborn infinite-reward exploit closed.** When the Magic Block flag denied a player from breaking the magic block, plugins that listen for block breaks — such as Jobs Reborn — still saw the break as successful and paid out rewards. Because the block instantly respawns, this allowed visitors to mine the same valuable block indefinitely for infinite job rewards. The denied break is now cancelled before other plugins process it, so no rewards are paid. Fixes [#534](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/issues/534).
actionbar: falsein config.yml now actually disables the action bar.** Previously, if the boss bar was enabled, the action bar progress display kept showing even withactionbar: falseset (and the same applied in reverse to the boss bar). Both settings are now respected. This fix also stops the progress displays from being updated twice per block break when both were enabled. Fixes [#537](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/issues/537).

This is a bug-fix release.
- Miner minions can mine the magic block again.** Breaking the magic block with a JetsMinions Miner minion threw a
NullPointerExceptionand left the block gone until it was manually restored with/ob respawnblock. The minion break path no longer runs the player-only magic-block protection check that caused the crash, so the block cycles and respawns as expected. This regression had been present since 1.22.0. Fixes [#525](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/AOneBlock/issues/525). my_island_*placeholders fixed for visiting team members.** When a player who belongs to a team visited another island, themy_island_*placeholders resolved to the visited island's team data instead of the player's own island. They now always resolve to the player's own island.

- Populated bee nest in Plenty.** The Plenty phase already drops honey blocks, honeycomb blocks, and honey bottles, but never a hive to farm them from. Plenty now spawns a
bee_nest(3 bees inside,honey_level=0) at the same density as the other honey items, closing the honey-farming gap. - Magic block client-side resync after mob rolls.** When the magic block rolled a mob, the server cancelled the break event but never told the client — leaving the block looking transparent until the next chunk resync (typically on relog). The block state is now resent to the mining player immediately after the cancel.
- CraftEngine startup-order fix.** AOneBlock's
onEnableruns before CraftEngine has populated its block registry, which previously caused a flood of falseBad custom blockerrors for every validtype: craftengineentry.CraftEngineCustomBlock.fromMap()no longer consults the registry when the YAML explicitly declarestype: craftengine; runtime placement still validates the ID gracefully. - Stricter CraftEngine block-ID validation at config load.** Blank IDs and IDs missing the
namespace:keyform are now rejected at config-load time instead of silently accepted and failing at placement. - Configurable chest particles no longer crash on non-DUST types.** Particle types whose data type is non-
Void(e.g.ITEM,BLOCK,ENTITY_EFFECT) used to throwIllegalArgumentExceptionbecause no particle data was being constructed. They are now detected, logged as a warning, and skipped.DUSTand void-data particles (e.g.FLAME) work unchanged.

CraftEngineHook, so AOneBlock no longer tracks CraftEngine's API directly — **this requires BentoBox 3.15.0 or later**. - ⚙️ **Configurable chest particles per rarity.** The particle type and color shown above UNCOMMON/RARE/EPIC chests are now fully configurable in
config.ymlunderworld.chest-particles. Set a particle toNONEto disable that rarity. CHEST_WITH_Xfixed-block notation.** Phase YAMLfixedBlocksnow accept entries likeCHEST_WITH_WATER_BUCKET, which place a chest pre-filled with that item. Used to give Plains players a guaranteed water bucket as the last block before the Underground transition.- Plains phase starter sequence updated.** The first six blocks are now a deterministic grass + oak log sequence so new players always get logs before stone, and the test sponge entry has been replaced with the water-bucket chest above.
- ⚙️ **
OBSIDIAN_SCOOPINGnow off by default.** Holding a bucket no longer instantly scoops obsidian magic blocks on fresh installs. Existing servers with the flag explicitly set are unaffected. - 🔡 **Placeholder defaults for islandless players.**
%aoneblock_my_island_phase%,%aoneblock_my_island_count%, and%aoneblock_my_island_percent_done%now return sensible defaults (Unknown,0,0%) instead of empty strings when the player has no island. New locale keyaoneblock.placeholders.my-island-phase-default. - 🔡 **Missing actionbar/placeholder translations added across all locales.**
- Documentation overhaul** for MythicMobs, ItemsAdder, and Nexo custom block configuration in the README, including a
start-commandsworkaround for MythicMobs skill issues. - Code-quality sweep: 36 SonarCloud MEDIUM issues addressed, S2637 nullability warnings resolved, JaCoCo coverage now reports to SonarCloud, modrinth-publish action pinned to commit SHA.

### To fix current worlds
- Use are your own risk! Take a backup copy of your world beforehand**
Load and edit the **level.dat** file of the world NBT tags to look like this:

This can be done manually via a tool like https://nbt.mcph.to/.
Another approach is to copy and paste the levels.dat file from another world that has been generated normally.

This release fixes an issue if you use ItemsAdder plugin where weird things could happen in phases, like blocks or mobs appearing out of sequence.
It also adds loot to suspicious gravel and suspicious sand should they be generated as blocks and brushed accordingly. The loot is determined by the biome of the phase:
- Desert - Desert pyramid archeology loot
- Ocean or Frozen Ocean - Ocean ruin cold archeology loot
- Warm Ocean - Ocean ruin warm archeology loot
- Any other biomes - 80% of common trail ruins archeology loot, 20% chance of rare loot
