SpaceworldMons Banner Image featuring a bunch of new mons!

SpaceworldMons adds over 100 Beta Pokémon from an era long gone to your Cobblemon world!

Features

  • As accurate recreations (as possible) of many Beta Pokémon! We try and only include speculative information if it's well accepted by the community at large, or if there's simply too many gaps in knowledge.
  • 20+ Cut Moves, with Gen 2's unused HMs being craftable!
  • Working, Data-driven Held Items! All from the Spaceworld '97 demo.
  • In-depth integration with base mod species. All Pokémon that are extentions of existing species have been included in herd and alpha spawn pools, to really help make them feel connected.

Installation

Jar Package:

  • Place the .jar file in your Mods folder! This counts as a datapack/resource pack combo, and installing like this lets it work in all your worlds!

Data/Resource Pack:

  • Place the .zip file in both your Resource Packs folder, and your save's Datapack folder!

For Server Owners:

  • Both versions include a Resource Pack that clients need to be able to see the custom Pokémon.
  • You can include these files within your Server's Resource Packs, which will get uploaded automatically for clients. No need to have players manually install the pack!

Newer releases also include a Localization Resource Pack to make the names more English-y. Downloads for that are on each compatable version's page.

Help Section

How are species decided on? How accurate is this pack?

Each species implimented by the pack are made with the intent of being as close to the designs made by the original developers. Most of our information comes from TheCuttingRoomFloor's pages documenting beta builds of the mainline Pokémon games. We also include some information presented on the Helix Chamber, as they have the most documentation on Gen 1's development.

If there is any information we concretely know, we use it. Speculation is used sparingly, unless it's absolutely required to fill in gaps. Original Japanese names are used as the base, as English names were only localized close to release. If a name isn't available, we first defer to the names provided in the interview with series translator Nob Osagawara, after that we use popular Fanon names, and finally we create original names as a last resort.

Inevitably there will be inaccuracies, and we will continue to update and make changes to remedy this. This pack is in equal parts a by-fans-for-fans art project, and an attempt to document all the interesting details this series's development has.

Is this pack compatable with ______?

As of version 4.0, we changed our file structure to prevent certain glitches that would arise in older versions. As a result, packs that add similar species such as Gorochu may have compatability issues. You should still be able to load multiples of these packs together, but things like animations, learnsets, evolution data, etc may be affected. Unfortunately, we will not be attempting to fix this until Cobblemon itself has a better way of handling adding species.

Similarly, packs that change Pokémon learnsets may be affected, due to how species_additions is used to add custom moves to learnsets.

How do I obtain the custom items?

All Held Items are obtainable via crafting in survival. As they're handled through custom NBT, they do not appear naturally in the Creative Inventory.

If you want to obtain them all in Creative Mode, make sure cheats are enabled in your world and run the command: /function spaceworldmons:spawn_items

Help! /pokespawn isn't working!

This is an issue with versions of the pack prior to 4.0. It was done this way for compatability with other Datapacks, having the species be treated as regional variants. The command to properly spawn in the models is /pokespawn [species] spaceworldmons

Other commands like /pokegive and natural spawning/evolving work as intended.

Help! The Beta Johto Starters don't show up in the starter selection!

We decided not to include data in the base pack for this, as if you play the pack with other datapacks that also include their own starters, one will overwrite the other. Here's how you can add the Beta Johto starters in yourself!

  • Go to your mods menu and search for Cobblemon, and click on the 'Configure...' button.
  • From there, search "starter" in the search bar. You will see a label titled "Export Starter Config". You will want this set to Yes
  • Open the installation of Minecraft you have your game set up in, now you should have a 'starter.json' file inside the config/cobblemon folder.
    • If you don't see it, go to your worlds screen and select 'Create a New World', you don't have to create a new world, this should just generate the file.
  • Wherever you want the starters to show up (ideally before Johto and after Kanto), paste the JSON below in-between the entries:
      {
        "name": "Nihon",
        "displayName": "Nihon",
        "order": -110,
        "pokemon": [
          "Chikorita beta level=10",
          "Honoguma level=10",
          "Kurusu level=10"
        ],
        "randomStarter": false
      },

    In versions 1.0-3.1: Replace Beta with spaceworld_bias=beta_johto and include spaceworldmons after Honoguma and Kurusu!

Starter selection including the SW97 Trio!

Save, and you're done! They should now appear as starter options in any world you create. Include this in your server's configs to have them show up if you're planning on adding the pack in your multiplayer worlds.

  • A major update that adds a lot of new stuff!** Originally, it was only going to be a compatability patch for the Make your Move update, but we ended up creating a lot more stuff...

### Important Change

The entire file structure has been changed. Previously, all species had to include the spaceworldmons tag in their spawn rules to work properly. This has been removed, making the Pokémon added in this pack behave like base mod Pokémon. This also solves the infamous *Substitute Doll* glitch.

For unique species, this changes nothing in pre-existing worlds.
For **Beta forms**, however, they actually use a Beta species tag rather than the old spaceworldmons one. **The consequence of this is that pre-existing Beta Pokémon will revert to their non-Beta variants when loading an old world.** If you have cheats enabled, this can be fixed by using /pokedit [slot] Beta.

### Additions
  • Generation 2**
  • Added Bomushika, finally, for real this time!
  • Added Ikari, evolves from either Unadon or Molambino, and can evolve into Gurotesu
  • Added Beta Porygon2, evolves from Porygon using a Dubious Disc
  • Added Beta Tyrogue, which can evolve into Beta Hitmontop
  • Added Beta Scizor, evolves from Scyther using a King's Rock

  • Generation 3**
  • Added Shiomagune, an Electric/Water crab Pokémon with magnets for pincers...
  • Added Raiou, evolves from Manectric using a Thunder Stone

  • Generation 4**
  • Added Punky, a pre-evolution for Stunky
  • Added Purretty, an alternate evolution for Glameow
  • Added Jollibird, an evolution for Delibird using an Ice Stone
  • Added Rizagan, an awkward evolution for Sableye using a Dusk Stone
  • Added Gaillow, an evolved form of Swellow
  • Added Zeppblim, an evolved form of Drifblim
  • Properly added Beta Gible, and it's evolutions, Beta Gabite and Garchomp

  • Generation 6**
  • Added Chomame and Mameja, the unnamed Peanut Dino evolution line from X and Y's concept art

  • Other Additions**
  • 15+ Moves have been added**, featuring cut moves from Generation 3 and HMs from the Spaceworld '97 demo.
  • Cut HMs as well as Megaphone are craftable as TMs**
  • Many Held Items have been added**, all based on item data found in the Spaceworld '97 demo. You can spawn them in Creative Mode by using the command /function spaceworldmons:spawn_items
  • Several species now have item interactions, such as the Ponku line being able to fill Buckets with Water!
  • Every species included in the pack now have proper Herd and Alpha Spawns.
  • A work-in-progress Japanese translation is included, courteous of user Soysauce in the Cobblemon Discord!
### Changes
  • All the Beta Johto starters are now Shoulder-Mountable! Similarly, all the final evolutions can be ridden as well.
  • The Beta Pokedexes have been reshuffled to be more sane, now starters are at the front of the dex, legends towards the back.
  • Beta Variants now show up as unique dex slots in the Beta Pokedexes.
  • Konya and Betobebii can evolve into their evolution's Regional Counterparts in a similar way to Pikachu evolving into Alolan Raichu.
  • Molambino and Unadon's evolution lines have been altered. Unadon and Molambino now both can evolve into Ikari, which then evolves into Gurotesu. Molambino keeps its original evolution line in addition to this change.
### Fixes
  • Tangela should no longer crash the game. Sorry about that one...
  • Text errors in several Pokedex entries have been fixed.
  • The Riding Pokémon format has been updated to match the 1.8 requirements.
  • Every** Pokémon added, regardless of if it's obtainable as an Alpha, has Alpha textures and proper eye markers.

Pokémon Day has come around again! We've been hard at work, and now the pack has **over 70 Beta Pokémon** to play with!

  • To install, download the jar and put it in your mods folder!** Both server and client need it if you want to use these Pokémon in multiplayer.
Fixes:
  • Fixed the posers on Shibirefugu and Tanpu to prevent crashing on 1.20.1

This problem doesn't exist in the 1.21 version, so no need to update if you're playing on that version.
A stable release of the additions made in [2.0a](https://modrinth.com/datapack/spaceworldmons-cobblemon/version/2.0a), including all of the new Pokémon that were added then. Be sure to check out that version's changelog for all the new Pokémon.

Fixes:
  • All species evolve as intended, and have fixed spawning.
  • the /pokespawn command no longer requires the spaceworldmons: prefix, you can just type the species names normally.
  • Added compatability with other Datapacks, no more fighting over who gets to be Gorochu!
