Overview
Spectrum is a colour-themed magic mod all about discovery and exploration. You will combine the sixteen colours and magical resources you discover on your journey to create magical tools and machines. The ultimate goal is to discover what lies beneath the once impenetrable bedrock floor.
In the process, you will gain a new perspective on things that have always been around you. You will notice things that have always seemed out of place, but you have never been able to identify them because you lacked the knowledge and tools to observe them. Now is the time!
Spectrum is progression-based and doesn't give everything away at first glance. As you progress through its advancement trees, you will have many realizations and solve lots of puzzles. Each step of your journey will be hinted at through advancements and the in-game guidebook that you will receive as soon as you find your first geode.
There is no hand-holding, so you will need to experiment and explore quite a lot. This also means that it may not be the best fit for everyone. Everyone plays Minecraft differently, and that's perfectly fine!
Spectrum is not meant to be rushed through or 'grinded'. It is best enjoyed alongside your playthrough.

Revelations
Just because something looks like stone doesn't mean it is…

There is a lot to uncover and lots of discoveries to be made.

Is this mod for me?
You might enjoy Spectrum if you like the following: Outer Wilds; Myst; Thaumcraft; Chromaticraft; figuring out how and why things work
You will probably hate Spectrum if you like the following: Generic tech mod #7 with linear progression that tells you exactly what to do at every step; following video tutorials 1:1
Progressing through the mod
When you first start out, you may notice that most items only appear with a locked recipe in your chosen recipe viewer. In Spectrum, recipes and their matching guidebook entries are unlocked step by step, providing something new to experiment with at each stage.
Everything will be hinted at via advancements and the guidebook that is gifted to you when you stumble upon your first geode: your own personal notebook. You will note down everything you stumble upon, every recipe you unlock and every discovery you make there.

New ways to craft
Spectrum offers many new ways to express yourself. Its multiblock structures are designed to be satisfying and fun to play with, giving you lots of freedom to construct and personalize them in your own creative way.

Spectrum's Discord
You will find a lot of helpful people on Spectrum's Discord. There are always friendly and helpful people around. Feel free to swing by if you like!

Lots of room to tinker for modpack makers

As a player, you will find everything you need in the extensive in-game guidebook.

- Made the new structure part of DD City graveyards, instead of a main city building. It's pretty rare now
## Mod Compat
- Vanilla Backport: The Resin recipe for the Cinderhearth now actually works
## Lang
- ko_kr: Thank you, 2hh8899!
## Koi & Crawfish entities
Shoutout to deplorablebeast for the models!
These come with everything you would expect: spawn eggs, mob heads, memory recipes, new guidebook entries and more.
Crawfish are hateful beings, but they *can* be tamed. They attack entities they deem hateable on sight. Collecting XP makes them grow, buffing their max HP, damage and armor. They can become HUGE. If they die they drop all the XP they collected.
Koi are the only fish able to swim in Liquid Crystal. They thrive, actually, emitting special particles. More later...
## Improvements
- Using the Nature's Staff now spawns particles
- Unlocking the Endgame advancement tree now triggers a milestone popup
- Potion Workshop Crafting recipe previews that have a knowledge gem now show how much XP in the gem is required
- Added a link to Ink Nodes to the Ink guidebook entry
- Recipes that call for berries now accept Sawblade Holly Berries
- You can now get apricotti, bristle sprouts, humming hells, moss balls, putcher plants, sweet peas, torchflowers & varia sprouts renewably by bonemealing/nature's staffing in DD biomes
- Made Undergrowth Manors more frequent
- Added a new structure to Deeper Down cities. :(
## Bug Fixes
- Fixed Exuberance not granting more XP on levels >1
- Fixed filling potion fillables with an effect and reagents that result in no effects (like reducing the potency to <=0)
- Fixed mining Stratine/Paltaeria Ore with Resonance not dropping ores
- Enchanting preenchanted items in the vanilla Enchanting Table now does not offer enchants that conflict with the innate enchant anymore
- Splinterspawn infested blocks now trigger the 'break infested block with resonance' advancement
- Fixed 5 broken textures in spectrum_alternate texture pack (debug world, my beloved)
- Fixed items in spectrum fluid logged blocks not floating upwards
- Items disenchanted in midnight solution now correctly update clientside
- Replaced a missing block in the Undergrowth Manor labyrinth
- Pistons now destroy Quitoxic Reeds, instead of moving them
- Unlocking the Ash recipe does not require having Ash anymore
## Mod Compat
- Iris: Fixed Colored Leaves rendering invisible/black with shaders active
- Fixed coloring items using Pigment in the Bedrock Anvil disconnecting clients in combination with some unknown mod
- Vanilla Backport: Added multiple resin recipes
- Apotheosis: probably work around switching workstaff enchants increasing the staffs fortune level
## Lang
- ko_kr: Thank you, 2hh8899!
I will have to see how to handle that better in the future. "normal" recipe reminders work fine, just some mods pulling off funky stuff might struggle.
## Improvements
- Resonance does now handle immutable drop-lists
- Added Sand / Ore Frequency block & itam tags
- Added copper weathering midnight solution recipes for chiseled_copper, copper_grate, copper_door, copper_trapdoor & copper_bulb
- Radiating Ender now reveals as soon as you collect it, without requiring having built a pedestal
- Made the crystallarieum guidebook entry layout not suck
- Updated ender splice player texture. Ty, crazymachinefan!
## Bug Fixes
- Fixed Bloodstone guidebook lang
## Mod Compat
- No Mans Land: Shipping some tags for them until https://github.com/Monad-Modding/No-Mans-Land/issues/299 is handled on their side
- Vestiges of the Present: Workaround for a crash when dying in some cases. Final fix will be implemented on their side
## Lang
- zh_cn: Thank you, SmallYii!
- ko_kr: Thank you, 2hh8899!
This one has been fun! A bit of sprinkles here, loads of fixes there, some preparations for a future thing over there and a big new QoL feature.
If I told my past self Spectrum would turn out so expansive one day, he would be both amazed and intimidated by the amount of time required to pour into it.
...I should have picked up carpentry or something like that instead.
## Advancement / Progress Sharing
Should that have been its own dedicated mod? Probably.
Do I care?
Nah. Here you go.
Unlocked with the Fusion Shrine and Clover you can either sync all advancements or just the spectrum ones between two or more players - either once or all the time.
Additionally to the survival rituals, you can acess the feature using the command
/spectrum advancement_sync. It is not super sophisticated, but get's the job done just fine.## Improvements
- Updated Gemstone Armor textures by @Bee!
- The Gemstone Ores guidebook entry is now hidden until the player mines their first one
- Titration Barrel recipe guidebook pages not have a bit more room for text. Reworded the pages for Infused Beverages
- Updated the 'midgame reached' popup toast mirroring the advancement tree renaming to 'Paint it Black'
- Migrated Spectrum's own fake player cache to the one of NeoForge, saving a few bytes of RAM
- Made Glowblocks a lot glowier
- Added the otherwise unobtainable Blackslag Azurite Ore to the endgame chest
- The 'Grow Pure Azurite' advancement is now hidden, since advancement can only be achieved lategame, while the advancement is in the midgame tree behind collecting azurite
- Refined Crystal Bricks now unlock after collecting Pure Azurite, Malachite & Bloodstone, instead of being gated behind crafting the secret copper recipe
- Recipe Viewers now see Additives of Crystallarieum recipes as Ingredients - you can therefore find these recipes with "U" and "R"
- Renamed "Treasure Hunter" to "Trophy Hunter" to better depict what it does. The internals go with the original name, still, so you don't lose the enchant on your gear.
- Updated the Shimmerstone hint from it being found in "Mountains" to "Hills and Ravines"
- Increased the hardness & blast resistance for all pure resource blocks
- Razing is not exclusive with fortune anymore (workstaff enchant swapping could bypass that, anyways)
- Removed the subtitle for Azurite auras. Since it only shows up once (when the sound first starts playing) and the player is still far away from the deposit at that point that subtitle was more misleading than helpful
- Azurite Ore sounds now stop immediately when the last block is broken
- Use Pig as the example for the "memory to head" recipe. Memories of hostiles are not always available
- Made multiple recipes & blocks that were easily accessible via Sludge available again earlygame
- The Fusion Shrine weather recipes now work in all dimensions that have weather
- Projectile rebound & Puff Circlet now use serve as a literal shield for projectiles, instead of the custom impl from before. Now works nicely with wither skulls, blaze fireballs, shulker projectiles & more!
- Frenzy & Eternal/Fatal Slumber now cancel each other out
- Made glass crossbow overcharge cheaper and more powerful
## Bug Fixes
- Fixed the Mysterious Locket recipe being ununlockable
- Fixed the 'fill ink container' advancement being ununlockable
- Fixed a faulty frame in the Moonstone chiseled block animation
- Fixed the perfect compound always showing up with its dev art texture
- Potted Noxshrooms now have their texture using the alternate texture pack
- Fixed Incandescent Amalgam 'gifted' in presents causing an explosion while also dropping the present again
- Updated the Bloodstone growing guidebook page to the new additives
- Fixed the title of Ender Hoppers when opening the GUI of another player's Ender Hopper
- Fixed Tight Grip not having any valid items
- Inexorable recipe only unlocks when the player is reasonably able to grow Pure Bloodstone
- Fixed items with split damage being unable to sweep
## Mod Compat
- Amaranth is now be plantable on all modded farmlands without requiring them being added to a tag
- Set Bedrock Tool max damage to Integer.MAX_VALUE for mods that want to access that and struggle to handle a 0 value. The max_damage component expects a positive integer, after all. Not a functional change from a player's perspective
- Spelunkery: Fixed a formatting error in the guidebook entry
- Added guardrails for the Anvil chrushing code for mods that call server damage code on the clientside
- Animus: blacklisted structure blocks from animus antilife
## Lang
- zh_cn: Thank you, SmallYii!
- ko_kr: Thank you, 2hh8899!
- Downgraded the required opengl version for the dimension shaders (fixes fps drops on very old graphics cards)
- Fixed Piglin Brutes dropping Piglin Heads with Treasure Hunter
- Reworked Rock Candy
- Mermaid's Gems can now fill containers
- Quite a few bug fixes & mod compat stuffs
Thanks at Pizzer and Saphire for quite a bunch of those fixes!
- Fixed some 'block broken' advancements to unlock before they should have
- EMI/REI now shows buttons & othe overenchanting star for enchantment upgrade recipes when one of the builtin alternate resource packs is enabled
- Improves some command lang files
- Fading food from Tropicraft
This update comes with *loaaaads* of under the hood changes to make mechanics more consistent and easier to maintain.
Pastel Upgrading, Potion/Status Effect internals, Entity type creation, ink block internals, spawner manipulation recipes, upgrades, floatblock internals, ...
I tested extensively, but I am sure I missed a thing or two. Please let me know if you find anything!
## Builtin Resource Packs
Similar to the Fabric version, the Neo version now ships builtin Resource packs:
- Alternate Textures: the texture variants that were used during MC 1.20.1. Includes the Spectrum Style Amethyst
- Programmer Art: uuuhhhhh yeah. Please don't.
Even the dev art Pigment Pedestal works almost perfectly fine now, despite its hitbox being a tad off (resource packs can't tweak hitboxes).
## Recipe Format Changes (breaking changes for modpack creators!)
All Secret recipes now have a condition that makes the recipe show as normal, instead of their hints.
For most recipes the trigger is crafting the recipe one (crafting a salty tart will make the 'salty' recipes show up, for example).
For the modpack makers out there, all of Spectrum's recipe types now support
additional_recipe_viewer_results.Items/Blocks you add as reference there will make the recipes show up as results.
Example: Pure Azurite for the Crystallarieum Growing recipe for Azurite (which gives you just a cluster, but its nice to be able to look that up).
The Fusion Shrine recipe format has changed: effects got grouped into
effects, with start, during and finish properties.Specifying effects is now optional. Omitting them will play the default small explosion when finished crafting.
## Improvements
- Gather Nodes now have two upgrade rings (up from 1)
- The Draconic Twinsword now comes preenchanted with Sweeping Edge V
- Potion Reagents are now able to apply color to Potions.
- The
spectrum:block_broken advancementcriterion can now test for all kinds of stuff, not just block states - Reworked the Moonstone chiseled block models. They behave like pillars now, making them a lot more consistent to place
- Added config settings for Ink consumption of Constructor's & Exchanging staff. Setting those to 0 makes them free, removing any Ink checks & tooltips
- Centered the 'Secret Recipe!' texts in EMI & REI
- Made the fluid converting & Primordial Fire recipe displays bigger, so long hint text will not overflow
- Added the
/spectrum force_enchantcommand, for when you *really* want to have something enchanted - Having a fluid as output in a Crystallarieum recipe now shows up in recipe viewers with 'usage/recipes' lookups
- Data driven Pastel Node upgrades are a lot easier to create
## Bug Fixes
- Fixed bottling decay blocks with one bottle in hand deleting both the bottle and the decay
- Fixed the Draconic Twinsword forgetting its attack damage and speed in certain cases
- The crystallarieum now *actually* allows with 0 ink recipes. Additives with a 0 ink cost multiplier will now make it work, too
- The Moonstone Temple structure in the DD Cities got its missing loot, armor stands, books & tree platforming location back that was missing since back in 1.19.2. Below the Colored Trees now properly is Blackslag, instead of Dirt
- Fixed a crash when using Night Salts / other sleep items
## Lang
- zh_cn: Thank you, SmallYii!
- ko_kr: Thank you, 2hh8899!
Added recipes with unlock conditions for the Crafting tables that EMI/REI show as not unlocked when not having a set advancement.
The Paintbrush, Guidebook and basic Pedestal recipes only unlock after getting the first gemstone / spectrum resource.
Many 'compacting'-style recipes, such as Pigment Blocks, Gemstone Blocks, Gemstone Powder Blocks, Pure Resource Blocks and more are now crafting table recipes.
The gating is purely visual - if you have the required ingredients at hand, the recipe will work, despite EMI/REI listing them as locked.
But the unlock conditions are set to require having the items in the first place, so ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
As a consequence, all blocks that support crafting recipes are now able to craft these basic recipes, which includes the Vanilla Crafter, Compacting Chest and Fabrication Chest.
## Improvements
- The Crystallarieum now allows recipes that do not consume any Ink
- Added a mob effect tag for making effects always infinite when applied
- Rebalanced the Crystallarieum Additives for Azurite, Malachite, Bloodstone, Prismarine & Bismuth
- Improved the logic tool upgrade recipes handle components & enchantments (like when upgrading from Malachite to Glass Crest)
- Increased the base explosion power of Arcane Charges from 3 to 4
- Tilled Slush / Shale Clay growth boost/prevention now work with all modded crops respecting Neo crop growth events
- removed ~20 mixins and migrated them to events
- Pastel Upgrades are now data driven and can be tweaked & expanded!
- Removed Mental Presence. As a game mechanic it's kinda unfair to only be able to be defended against sleep effects when progressing Spectrum
- Made 'Another Roll' use a more performant mixin system and made that an attribute instead
- Treasure Hunter drops now scale with Another Roll
- Removed Tilled Slush/Shale Clay items to match vanilla Farmland
- Guidebook consistency: Block Placer & Breaker are now next to each other; the 'Filter' entry now uses a circle, matching other info entries
- Added all kinds of golden stuff to the
piglin_loveditem tag - The Mermaids Gem advancement is now sorted directly under Spectrum root, since finding one starts the journey
- The gravity applied to players when having a lot of Stratine / Paltaeria in the inventory is now capped. The cap is still very high, but it will prevent issues when rejoining servers with large ping and dozens of stacks of Paltaeria in the inventory
- The Storm Stone potion reagent now increases the potions potency to II for brews that do not have any potency modifiers added
- Nephrite Blossom Leaves now bloom twice as fast
- Increased the duration of the Nightfalls Blade with Fatal slumber from 10s->30s. 10 seconds was wayyyyy to little to defend oneself
- The 'memory to head' recipe now lists that any mobs memory will do
- The guidebook now mentions that Kindlings have to be broken in for breeding
## Bug Fixes
- Fixed the Crystallarieum sometimes stopping or continuing to use Ink & Additives when fully grown
- Fixed the Neolith potion reagent not turning the potion visibly black (the tooltip was correctly blurred)
- Fixed nectardew burgeon tooltip not listing its Eternal Slumber effect as infinite
- Fixed a leaf of the Pastel Omni nodes not having a texture
- Azure Dike data is not persisted across death anymore
- Fixed the Moonstuck Nectar 'increased drink speed' potion reagent not actually affecting drink speed
- Fixed the Nectar Lance rendering as Knotted Sword when blocking
- Fixed Crits not applying in many cases
- Fixed Spawners dropping XP when harvested with a Resonance tool
- Fixed the 'unlock alcoholic beverages' button not visibly updating when pressed until the page is refreshed
- Fixed the Moonstone Temple in the DD cities generating without Polished Amethyst blocks
- Fixed trims on Bedrock Armor looking weird by... simply not making Bedrock Armor trimmable anymore :P
- Fixed the Titration Barrel only returning a single Bottle instead of two when sealing it for the Freigeist recipe
- Fixed a dupe with Floatblocks
- Removed the broken 'gift wet lava sponge' advancement. Turns out there is a reason why vanilla removed 'Diamonds to you!'
## Mod Compat
- Amaranth now fires Neo crop growth events, allowing other mods to influence how it grows
- Spelunkery / Dimensional Tears: Moved the dimensional tears compat recipes that were part of Speclunkery previously to the new mod
- Supplementaries: Added a workaround for Tinted Preservation Glass being unmovable by Pistons, locking players out of a Preservation Structure
- Spectral Decorations: Fixed recipe viewers potentially showing a cloaked feather as the item shown for the
kindling_feathersitem tag, when having feathers uncloaked, but not colored ones
## Lang
- zh_cn: Thank you, SmallYii!
- ko_kr: Thank you, 2hh8899!
- The Crystallarieum does not take ink items anymore. If you still have an Ink flask in there when you update it will get deleted.
## Known Issues
- Pastel Ink nodes balance ink between blocks, but that is not indicated visually
- Pastel Nodes sometimes jitter
- The order of the Ink bars in the Cinderhearth can vary
- When enchanting, the XP particles do not rain down onto the item
## Ink Changes
- Ink now evens out even between items & blocks (like Ink Flasks in the Color Picker)
- that means you safely store as much ink in Flasks as you want. You can always put it back to fill your levellable trinkets, for example
- Hovering over Ink storing blocks using the Paintbrush now shows a UI with Ink data
- Ink storing items can now specify if constructs/players/noone can drain ink from them, or if they can be filled. This is a surprise tool that will help us later :eyes:
- The Crystallarieum does not take ink items anymore. Ink now has to be supplied to it via Ink Pastel Node. You will not have to click like 50 things into it anymore
## Improvements
- Moved another bunch of mixins to events. Improves mod compat
- Added an
spectrum:inkitem sub predicate. You can now match advancements based on the amount of ink in your inventory or anywhere else. Existing advancements have been migrated to use it - Added a config option for Ruin: Allow the creation of Deeper Down portals (default), stop it from spreading to the lowest layer of Bedrock in the overworld, or opening to the void when breaking it
## Bug Fixes
- Fixed crash when viewing Enchantment Upgrade recipes in the guidebook
- Fixed items getting inserted into the Fusion Shrine unstacked in some cases
## Mod Compat
- ImmediatelyFast: Fixed items with custom border highlighting not rendering. Thank you, RaphiMC!
## Breaking Changes
- Preservation Chests / Item Bowls will forget which players interacted with them already
- Ink is now exposed via capability and its package got changed. This will break all mods integrating with Ink
- Pure Azurite/Malachite/Bloodstone block ids have been renamed. Craft them to items to prevent loosing yours
- The json format of Enchantment upgrade recipes changed. The wiki has been updated.
- Now takes ingredients instead of individual items
- Different levels now allow for individual ingredients (now possible example: low level: pigment; high level: pigment blocks)
- The json format of Crystallarieum recipes changed.
- "fluid_medium" is now "fluid" to match the other recipe types
- "catalysts" are now "additives", since they are usually consumed. The wiki and ingame text has been updated.
## Known Issues
- Pastel Ink nodes balance ink between blocks, but that is not indicated visually
- Pastel Nodes sometimes jitter
## Fluid Revamp
Mud/Sludge has been removed. It never really found its place in the mod and was merely useful for some dipping recipes & getting renewable Dirt.
Added Cauldrons for all fluids. Man, that was a real pita.
Fluid dripping via Dripstone works, too! You can adjust the speed / disable it in the config.
Revamped the colors of all fluids, including their submerged overlays, to be more expressive
Quitoxic Reeds now grow in Dragonrot and can now convert the block they are growing on. Depending where they grow in they now turn clay/mud into different materials.
Sneakily added a way to get Failing/the Cinderhearth without ever visiting the Nether - take that, dimension-locking servers.
## Pastel Network Expansion
Pastel Networks have been reworked to support arbitrary resources.
Added the Ink Node! Connecting blocks that store Ink will even it out between all connected blocks in the network.
Finding Mermaids Gems now unlock Fluid Nodes! They work exactly like their item counterparts, having provider, sender, storage and gather variants.
Moonstone tier unlocks Omni nodes! These combine item, fluid and ink transfer all in one
## Refactoring
A sizable amount of time this update was invested in refactoring and code cleanliness.
Over the years that Spectrum has been in existence legacy code, similar but not identical strands of code and special cases have accumulated, and these have now been tidied up.
There's still room for improvement here and there (particularly around the multiblocks that use item bowls), but it’s already making a big difference and will simplify future updates and ports.
Also ran static code analysis (Qodana) across the whole codebase, resulting in lots of fixes, performance & code tidiness improvements all around the board, way too many to list here.
## Improvements
- Heartbound Chest owner is now synced to clients, to make certain tool mods not shit themselves when trying to break it
- Various improvements around the Memory => Head recipe
- Activating the Cotton Cloud Boots now resets fall damage
- The DumpRegistries / DumpTags commands now force UTF8 as encoding
- Made Jade Vine particles movement prettier
- Items now tick in Bottomless Bundles (Midnight Aberrations now crumbles, for example)
- Improved Monster Spawner tooltips
- Efficiency Upgrades now work on recipes flagged as 'copy the components from the first input item'. That one item will continue to always be consumed (since usually it is a tool upgrade or similar)
- Clotted Cream does not clear all status effects anymore, but only those that milk would clear, too

Oh boy, this took a while. Welcome to Spectrum on NeoForge!
This is not a 1:1 port of Spectrum Fabric, but one with many internal improvements, refactors, fixes and new content!
For all of you on Fabric: no worries, I will make sure to port many of the fancy new features to Spectrum 1.21.1, too :)
This changelog lists all the changes since Spectrum 1.8.12.
## Goodbye Modular Explosives, welcome Arcane Charges!
You might know them, you might not. The two modular explosives were always a bit of a pain to work with - both from a players and a code standpoint.
The way they work has been completely redone, now working off of enchantments.
__Parametric Mining Device__
- throwable explosive, can also be placed on walls to break blocks in that direction*
__Threat Conflux__
- basically a mine; explodes when something touches it*
The way they are set up now makes them usable instantly and a lot easier to understand.
As you can see, they now come preenchanted, hinting at there being a lot more options with other enchantments, too.
Lots of enchantments *just work*: Fortune and Looting multiply drops, Unbreaking and Indestructible make them not break, Treasure Hunter drops heads, ... you name it.
Want to power them up in a quick and dirty way? Just pop them into an Enchanting Table. Or get fancy using Spectrum's Enchanter and pick your poison.
The new guidebook has been updated accordingly: https://discord.com/channels/906264467636109333/906264468458180640/1482099691054170192
## Rock Candy rework
Rock Candies were always super helpful with their short burst, high impact status effects. Sadly the way to get them was not automation friendly and tedious at best.
The way to craft them has been completely revamped and their values tweaked to accomodate for it. Snack away!
Check out now it works: https://discord.com/channels/906264467636109333/906264468458180640/1481021287165071360
## Filtering
While the Black Hole Chest always featured filter slots, they were a lot more limited compared to the ones in the Pastel Nodes. With Spectrum 1.9 they now work exactly the same and filtering is a lot more extensive. You can now filter for all ores, that are not Spectrum's and other shenanigans, for example.
New guidebook entry: https://discord.com/channels/906264467636109333/906264468458180640/1464878788134572104
Shoutout to Exa for the immense improvement!
## More Star Candies!
Star Candies have been completely reworked and now come not only as 'Star Candy' and 'Enchanted Star Candy', but quite a few more.
Can you collect them all? The yellow one for sure, probably the rare blue one, maybe even the epic purple... wait, there are even more?
Comes with a bunch of new advancements.
Get am impression here: https://discord.com/channels/906264467636109333/906264468458180640/1482265532714586134
## New Textures
Shoutout to our new team member and kind soul @Bee.
In this version you will find the first textures, namely for the [Celestial Pocketwatch](https://discord.com/channels/906264467636109333/906264468458180640/1482103185169449154), [Star Candies](https://discord.com/channels/906264467636109333/906264468458180640/1482266379662131241) and [Colorful Bricks](https://discord.com/channels/906264467636109333/906264468458180640/1482333885647028228).
## Config System / Dependencies
Spectrum's config has been moved to the Neoforge config system. You don't need to install Cloth Config anymore.
The only required dependencies now are Revelationary, Modonomicon & Curios.
## Modularization
__Data Loaders for datapacks__
- You can now register colors for items & fluids. This data is used for the particles for items in the Fusion Shrine, Item Bowls & more.
- datapacks can add new treasure hunter drops (for example if other mods add their own mob heads)
__Item Components__
- Biome darkness, fog, tint & the data like colors for the dimension shader can now be modified. You can apply those effects to biomes of other mods, too!
- Item Gravity is now an item component. That means you can add gravity to *any* item, for example via commands
- Damage Immunity is now an item component. That means you can add immunities to any item, for example via commands. That is what protects End Portal Frames & more in item entity form from burning in lava or getting blown up

- Things that can access items stored in items can now pull stacks out of Bottomless Bundles
- Erasers won't spawn midair anymore
- the guidebook can now be placed in lecterns
- You can now activate / deactivate Bident abilities by sneak-using, instead of right clicking them in the inventory. That is a lot quicker and more intuitive. The change is posted to your action bar
- The Crystallarieum recipe does not take a bucket of liquid crystal anymore (since it can be logged with any fluid now)
- Mermaids Popcorn has been buffed from 20 sec of Dolphins grace to 2 mins

- a lot more I forgor
## Removals
- the 'severe/incurable' effect for potion reagents has been removed. It required changes all around the Minecraft codebase, from serialization, networking, rendering, curing and more
## Bug Fixes
I won't even bother, it is a *lot*.
## Known Incompats
- Colorful Hearts (Minor): completely overrides neos heart rendering, making hearts unable to be modified by divinity / deadly poison. See https://github.com/Terrails/colorful-hearts/issues/61

- You will rarely find Splinterspawn infested blocks in the Razor Edge. You ever think you are hallucinating, no, that might only have been a Splinterspawn eyeing you
- Breaking their block with Silk Touch will make it vanish, you can drop the block including the mob using Resonance, while Pest Control will earn you a nice sum of XP instead
## Redstone Sand rework
Redstone Sand has been completely revamped.
It has lots of utility now, useful in many redstony scenarios.
- transfers redstone signals in any direction, including upwards and downwards (with is kind of a pain in vanilla)
- immediately gives off power to neighboring Redstone, but transferring to other Redstone Sand creates a slowly growing signal
- Stores energy. Signals drop off slowly after turning off the input
- Will fall when powered and not supported
- Retains its energy during the fall, giving a short Redstone Pulse when landing

Huge thanks to EgrorBs for quite a bunch of these fixes!
This port has taken forever, since Minecraft changed a lot in recent updates, so we had to rewrite almost every class in the entire mod. 1.21.7 isn't looking like less work, either. But since you all enjoy Spectrum so much it's very much worth it.
At this point big thanks to electro_593 and noaaan for helping out a lot with this port.
## Early Potion Workshop!
The Potion Workshop is now unlocked in earlygame, after collecting Mermaid's Gems & Quitoxic Reeds - the Stratine requirement was removed.
Since the vanilla Brewing Stand requires Blaze Rods, this is a nice alternative for Players that don't vibe with the Nether too much or play on peaceful.
To keep the power level down, all non-vanilla reagents get unlocked starting the midgame advancement tree.
## Player Memories!
When using the Staff of Remembrance on a Player, you can now get a Memory of them.
Hatching that memory makes the player teleport back to the position of the Memory.
Using the 'Memory to Head' recipe you can now finally get Player heads, making Hardcore Revival a lot more accessible.
I've also made sure to add a new funky advancements, if you try a certain cursed thing with that :tomfoolery:
## Texture Overhaul
Most Spectrum textures use the ones that were previously included in the 'gen1' texture pack again.
Especially the new Calcite and Basalt textures did not mesh too nicely with their vanilla counterparts.
Some blocks, like the Perservation Blocks, Chimes, Pylons, Azurite ore and more still retain their updated textures and in other cases (like Shimmerstone particles) the visuals have been merged to create a vanillay, yet consistent look.
Other blocks have gotten an overhaul - Stardust Blocks now sparkle, for example. Gemstone Blocks are back to their former selves, while their 'pillary' versions got their dedicated decorative blocks, actually called '<Gem> Pillar'. The Neolith item got smaller and it's block texture swapped with radiating ender, emphasizing its non-attributable properties as a null-block.
Of course you can still use the previous textures which are now included in a separate texture pack.
