Xenofactions

Xenofactions is a Minecraft Forge 1.7.10 factions-and-warfare mod built for geopolitical, nation-building, factions, and large-scale multiplayer conflict servers.

Originally derived from the xRadar/HFR codebase, Xenofactions expands the traditional factions formula with cities, prestige economies, diplomacy, war declarations, custom faction flags, new-player protections, Dynmap integration, and extensive configuration options designed specifically for long-running multiplayer worlds.

Whether you're running a towny-style civilization server, a geopolitical nation server, or a large-scale warfare environment, Xenofactions provides the tools needed to manage territory, politics, economics, and conflict.

Major Features

🏛 Factions, Cities & Claims

  • Configure city spacing, claim limits, upkeep costs, and expansion rules.

  • Optional keep-inventory grace period for new players.

💰 Prestige Economy

  • Earn prestige through faction activity and infrastructure.
  • Maintain claims, warps, and faction systems through configurable upkeep.
  • Spend prestige on expansion, warfare, and strategic advantages.

  • Negotiate ceasefires, peace agreements, and surrender terms.
  • Allied factions can participate in defensive wars together.
  • Configurable war cooldowns, raid windows, alliance behavior, and online-player requirements.
  • Administrative controls allow server owners to customize warfare rules to fit their community.

🚩 Custom Faction Flags

  • Choose built-in faction flags or upload custom faction banners.
  • Secure image importing with host allowlists, size restrictions, and rate limiting.
  • Create unique faction identities for nations, alliances, and organizations.

  • Display faction cities and territorial borders directly on live web maps.
  • Configurable marker appearance, labels, borders, and update behavior.

🛠 Server Administration Tools

  • Extensive administrative command suite.
  • Player inventory viewing, muting, ignoring, market controls, and faction management.
  • Configurable progression systems, custom stone drops, and server economy tools.
  • Designed to support large multiplayer communities and long-term worlds.

🎮 Optional Team Deathmatch Module

  • Integrated TDM framework for servers that want structured PvP events.
  • Map creation and management tools.
  • Team selection and map voting systems.
  • Custom kits and match administration commands.
  • Can be enabled or ignored depending on server needs.

📡 Legacy Warfare Systems

  • Includes inherited radar, defense, missile, EMP, forcefield, market, oil, and power systems from the original xRadar/HFR lineage.
  • Highly configurable and suitable for servers using vehicle, military, and industrial modpacks.

Built for Minecraft 1.7.10

Xenofactions is developed exclusively for Minecraft Forge 1.7.10 and is designed to work alongside many of the era's most popular multiplayer and warfare-focused mods, including military, vehicle, and industrial content packs.

Optional integrations such as Dynmap allow servers to publish live territorial maps without introducing hard dependencies.

If you're looking for a factions system that goes beyond simple land claiming and introduces politics, economics, diplomacy, territorial expansion, nation-building, and large-scale warfare, Xenofactions provides one of the most comprehensive faction frameworks available for Minecraft 1.7.10.

# Pull request: secure and distribute Wall Art controllers

  • Made Wall Art configuration opening server-authoritative and restricted it to the controller's UUID owner, with localized denial feedback.
  • Added the missing Wall Art block display name and a localized /xwallart confirmation.
  • Added the permission-free /xwallart player command, including safe item dropping when the inventory is full.

# Pull request: fix Wall Art collision and wall orientation

  • Made Wall Art non-colliding like vanilla 1.7.10 vines while retaining its thin metadata-oriented selection and ray-trace bounds.
  • Derived the controller's supporting-wall facing from the clicked horizontal face, rejected vertical attachment, and stopped player yaw from overwriting placement metadata.
  • Added clicked-side support validation, centralized placement/support direction mapping, and replaced invalid metadata's full-cube bounds with a safe thin panel.

# Pull request: synchronize Wall Art controller visibility

  • Invalidated cached client block geometry when synchronized Wall Art image, facing, or display dimensions change, so configured controllers disappear and cleared controllers reappear immediately.
  • Explicitly synchronized newly placed Wall Art tile metadata after server-side ownership and facing initialization.
  • Preserved hash-driven controller visibility, thin interaction and inventory geometry, and the existing tile renderer and server update path.

# Pull request: fix Wall Art block rendering

  • Hid configured Wall Art controller geometry while preserving the downloaded-image TESR and the logical block's interaction bounds.
  • Added a dedicated Forge 1.7.10 block renderer for metadata-oriented thin fallback panels in the world.
  • Rendered the Wall Art inventory item as a fixed, thin vertical panel using its neutral fallback texture.

# Pull request: re-audit Wall Art importing against ImageFrame

  • Added an independent Wall Art source policy with correct Postimages page/CDN defaults, bounded source dimensions and bytes, manual redirect limits, and separate success/failure cooldowns.
  • Added bounded HTML image-page resolution for secure OpenGraph metadata and a limited image fallback, while revalidating every resolved URL and redirect with the existing SSRF protections.
  • Switched Wall Art requests to a browser-compatible user agent, retained byte-level PNG/JPEG verification and memory-efficient source subsampling, and improved actionable HTTP, resolver, timeout, size, and decode errors.
  • Refactored the asynchronous import lifecycle and all Wall Art-specific source files for readable Java, accurate in-progress/cooldown messages, short failure retries, sanitized diagnostics, and main-thread-only world updates.

# Pull request: fix Wall Art image importing

  • Separated bounded Wall Art source downloads and source-dimension safety checks from the much smaller custom faction flag import limits.
  • Added metadata-first PNG/JPEG decoding with source subsampling so normal hi

# Pull request: fix JourneyMap minimap claim clipping

  • Kept JourneyMap's depth-based minimap mask active while faction claim fills, borders, and labels render, preventing overlay geometry from escaping circular and rectangular minimap interiors without adding a separate clipping system.
  • Preserved fullscreen claim rendering and the corrected legacy territory-coordinate bounds by limiting the change to Xenofactions-owned OpenGL state.

# Pull request: fix JourneyMap faction claim alignment

  • Corrected JourneyMap claim polygons, exposed borders, and territory-label bounds to use the exact inverse of Xenofactions' legacy +1 and truncating integer coordinate conversion instead of treating stored territory coordinates as vanilla chunks.
  • Covered positive, negative, axis-crossing, and near-origin territory bounds with focused regression tests while preserving real flag-block label positions and the reflection-only JourneyMap integration.

# Pull request: show command-specific help in the Xenofactions GUI

  • Replaced generic legacy-execution text in the Xenofactions command GUI with concise descriptions of each command's actual behavior.
  • Aligned faction and administrator GUI help with the current grouped /c and /xc commands and clarified utility-command documentation.

# Pull request: complete Xenofactions command GUI localization

  • Completed localization for the remaining Admin and TDM command GUI entries, including City Center cancel-move and recover-move commands.
  • Added source-level validation to require an English name and description for every command catalog entry.

# Pull request: fix Earth chunk-check command compilation

  • Qualified the Minecraft command integer parser used by /xc earth check, allowing the standalone Earth command handler to compile while retaining standard invalid-coordinate command errors.

# Pull request: restore canonical faction roles after UUID identity refactor

  • Fixed global chat and the XF menu to resolve live players through their canonical FactionMemberRecord, so UUID-mode owners and officers no longer appear as citizens.
  • Centralized role display, owner name, member count, and member-list data on canonical records rather than deprecated username collections.
  • Corrected promote, demote, ownership-target, kick, leave, merge, disband, and online membership paths so permissions and membership changes take effect immediately and persist from UUID records.
  • Preserved NAME and AUTO identity behavior by resolving both modes to the same member record before checking its FactionRole; username-only permission lookup remains fail-closed outside NAME mode.
  • Retained legacy leader/member/officer fields strictly as old-save migration and compatibility mirrors.

# PR: Command namespace cleanup

  • Grouped recent player faction commands under /c and administrator/Earth commands under /xc, removing their standalone roots.

### Xenofactions v2.1.7 Hotfix

#### Multi-Dimension Compatibility

  • Fixed numerous systems that still assumed the Overworld when resolving territory ownership.
  • Prestige buildings, structures, tents, statues, flags, and other tile entities now correctly resolve ownership in the dimension they are placed in.
  • Improved dimension-aware claim lookups throughout the mod to ensure territory ownership behaves correctly in custom dimensions.
  • Added additional legacy save migration for older worlds that did not store dimension information. Legacy homes and warps are automatically migrated to the Overworld (dimension 0) during loading.
  • Removed vanilla sky visibility requirements from foundation-based structures, allowing them to function correctly in dimensions with permanent ceilings (such as the Nether, End, and similar modded dimensions). Structures now validate their foundation and available build space instead.

#### Persistence Improvements

  • Fixed faction alliances not persisting across server restarts.
  • Fixed runtime administrator war settings resetting after server restarts.
  • Improved save/load handling for faction diplomacy and runtime state to ensure data is consistently restored.
  • Added automatic restoration of alliance references after world data loads.
  • Improved persistence verification for alliances, war state, and dimension-aware data.

#### City Center & Faction Information

  • City Center GUIs now immediately update whenever prestige generation changes instead of waiting for the hourly prestige tick.
  • Added a live prestige generation display showing current hourly prestige income.
  • /c info now displays current prestige generation per hour and net prestige generation directly from live faction data.
  • /c info now refreshes City Center information from loaded tile entities, ensuring upgraded city levels, radius, upkeep, and dimension information are always accurate.

#### Alliance Improvements

  • Added /c allies and /c allylist as quick aliases for viewing alliances.
  • Improved alliance listings to display **None** when a faction has no allies.
  • Alliance listings now also display any pending alliance offers.
  • /c info now displays allied factions alongside enemies for a complete diplomatic overview.
  • Added internal formatting improvements for alliance and pending-offer displays.

#### Commands & Documentation

  • Added the new alliance aliases to command tab completion.
  • Updated command documentation for /c alliance, /c allies, and /c allylist.
  • Expanded server administration documentation with additional verification steps for:

  • Alliance persistence
  • Runtime war-state persistence
  • City Center prestige synchronization
  • /c info prestige generation reporting
  • City upgrade reporting
