# Molten Veins 0.7.9
Turns out your settings were being ignored on servers this whole time. Whoops. That's fixed, and while I was in there I added tool protection and let you edit the block list yourself.
**Minecraft:** 1.21.8 · 1.21.9 · 1.21.10 · 1.21.11 · 26.1 · 26.1.1 · 26.1.2 · 26.2
**Loaders:** Fabric · NeoForge

## 🌐 Your settings actually work on servers now
So this was embarrassing. On a server, the only things your game bothered telling the server were your key and your current mode. That's it. The Mining Limit, your ore toggles, Magnet, Auto-Smelt, tunnel length, layer size, every one of those came from the **server's** config file instead of yours.
Which means you could turn Diamond off, drag the Mining Limit down to 8, close the menu, and absolutely nothing would change. Single player worked fine, so it slipped past me for a long time. Sorry to anyone who thought they were going mad.
Your settings now get sent to the server, and the server remembers them for each player. You and your friends can run totally different setups on the same world.
**If you run a server:** you're still the boss. Whatever a player sends gets checked against your config first, and they can only ever make things stricter for themselves, never looser. Set `maxVeinSize` to 32 and nobody is getting more than 32. Turn vein mining off and it stays off. Same for the block lists below.

## 🛡️ It won't break your pickaxe anymore
This one is on by default and honestly I should have done it ages ago.
Vein mining now stops before your tool breaks. Not "saves it at the last second", it checks before every single block, so mining just quietly stops while you've still got durability left. No more watching your Fortune III diamond pickaxe die halfway through a nice big vein because you forgot to glance at the bar.
If you want to tune it, in `config/moltenveins.json`:
"protectToolEnabled": true,
"toolDurabilityReserve": 5
`toolDurabilityReserve` is how much durability it leaves alone. Bump it up if you want a bigger cushion. Set `protectToolEnabled` to false if you liked living dangerously.
Nothing changes for bare hands or unbreakable tools, since there's no durability to protect.

## 📋 You can add or remove blocks yourself now
No more waiting on me to patch things. Two lists in `config/moltenveins.json`:
"extraBlocks": ["mymod:weird_ore", "othermod:crystal_cluster"],
"blockedBlocks": ["minecraft:obsidian"]
**`extraBlocks`** is for blocks Molten Veins doesn't spot on its own. It already finds most modded ores automatically, but if a mod names its ore something like `crystal_cluster` it sails right past both of my checks. Stick it in this list and it just works, auto-smelting included.
**`blockedBlocks`** is the opposite. Sick of obsidian getting vein mined? One line, done. This beats everything else, including my built-in list, in every mining mode.
You can skip the `minecraft:` part for vanilla stuff, so `"obsidian"` works the same as `"minecraft:obsidian"`.
If your favorite mod's ore still isn't picked up, this should sort you out immediately. Do still tell me about it though, I'd rather it work out of the box.

## 🐛 Fixes
**Settings menu doesn't fall out of its own box anymore.** It was guessing how tall it needed to be, so on a short window or a big GUI scale the bottom row of toggles and the Done button ended up sitting outside the orange border. It measures itself properly now.
**Modded ore XP isn't made up anymore.** Auto-smelting a modded ore was handing out a flat 1 XP no matter what the recipe actually said, then multiplying that with the XP Bonus on top. It now reads the real number off the smelting recipe.
**Behind the scenes:** I found a hole in my own build process that could have shipped you jars built from the wrong code. Nothing that got released was affected, but it's shut now and every jar from here on is verified before it goes out.

Grab the one matching your version **and** your loader, drop it in `mods`, done.
**Fabric:** Fabric Loader + Fabric API · **NeoForge:** the matching NeoForge version
**Java:** 21 for the 1.21.x jars, 25 for the 26.x jars
Your config carries straight over and the new options show up on their own the first time you launch.
